Within the last week i have Lost my high scores and settings in DKJR and DK3.

I know a Year or so ago i lost all my high scores on DK,DK2

What causes this with these kits it seems after awhile it loses the scores it has? DK3 Lost all it scores after i had recorded a 951,400 Score.

It broke my heart too see that score gone and the 661,400 i had on the DKJR.

I'm really starting too wonder what is the point of these kits if they just end up losing there scores?

Does anyone else have this happening too them within a certain time frame??

Thanks for responding guys!

So are they working again now? If so, what did you do to get them back?

i have this problem with my q*bert. about once per month it just starts up with everything reset. really frustrating. i've tried different RAM, but that doesn't solve the problem. i've tried it on two different working main PCBs, and with both the original power supply and one of the new switching power supplies, still no love. sigh...

DKJR Went completely back too factory settings. The Timer on bootup was completely disabled.

I did nothing too get the scores too start keeping scores again.. But all scores from the past where lost.

Like i said before it did it on the DK3 after a 951,900 score was recorded and then shut off for 2 hours.

Sometimes DK3 Makes a Noise on bootup sometimes it does'nt .

If the DK3 did'nt save the score i would'nt know it was there becouse thats the only thing the kit does.

I had this happen once to my ms pac but only when it kept resetting. Some bad wiring caused the restets, fixed that and the HS save kit has not done it since.

My Asteroids HS save has never done this.

Using battery or NVRAM?

Have you made the two capacitor mods?

Bill

For the DK family, You could send an email to Braze. If you are willing to troubleshoot, he may be able to help.

If it was me, I'd take a look at the power supplies.

Never had that problem with any of my Braze kits or my Galaga Enhancement Kit. If there's an issue email Scott. He goes out of his way to help you.

We have kits in our Popeye, DKjr, DK, DK3, and Mario Bros and we've never lost any scores or settings. Before that I had a Double Donkey Kong and that also never lost a score or setting.

Hmmm... I'd take a look like 2600 suggested or you could have "dirty" power in your local area causing these anomalies. You may as well write Scott too because you never know... there may be a batch with an iffy component.

Good luck! (btw, nice DK3 score!) :beerchug:

TY Jeff

for saying that was a nice score!!

My heart is broken after it is gone!! The only thing i can think of all these Nintendo games are plugged into the same outlet.

Yes i have been talking with scott he has been wonderfull though all this. I asked Scott this is there a way? On Reboot the hs chip does'nt get read and the high scores are not set? I really think that is what is happening here.

Mikes has not been ... *Looks like your kits are working fine now bye*

NVRAM. bought the kit from arcadeshop. after i ran into the problem i tried two other 16k NVRAMs (mainly different speeds), but that didn't make a difference.

i jumpered diode D2, and replaced C25 with a 470 uF, but i don't think i changed another capacitor - did i miss one?

Scott contacted me again he has no clue why this is happening. He has never heard of this happening in the 11 years he has been making these.

This has too be happening too someone other then me!

Are my scores too good too be saved?

I've had severa; people send in boards for repair with braze's kits that had failed with bad PALs.... I'd have to look at his code to see how it handles bad data from the serial eeprom or the serial eeprom failing...

If you get a replacement pal, it's pretty trivial to throw the SEEP on a programmer and put your high score back on it...

TY HudsonArcade for your post.. I guess Scott has no idea about this. If it fails does it just not read it? Just starts over and loses everything?

You'll have to ask him what his code does...

The dead boards I've seen were dead dead (wouldn't bankswitch / address the ROMS), but it's conceivable that another part of the PAL could fail that only affects the SEEP interface.

just wanted too update this no more scores where lost tonight! I had a Million point game Final score was 1,168,000

I did a short video of the screen shot.. I'm waiting for Youtube too e-mail me my pw.

See? This turned out to be a GOOD thing. :)

me too

I first just bought nvram and jumpered the diode. It worked for about a month then didn't save anymore. So I just bought an arcade shop kit -- did the capacitor, diode new NVRAM -- still about every 2 week the thing resets...

I took the game to work and everyone bitches the high scroces get wiped....

so I basically bought that damn nvrams twice for nothing....

Maybe someone will make a different kit or has some new ideas. I think its the game I think its corrupts the ram

Along those lines do the multi-kits have these problems? And does anyone have a multi-kit or know where I could get one?
