SOLD - PARTS HP 16500C Logic Analyzer and Oscilloscope

so yeah, i'ved owned my HP 1650A for over a year and haven't used it once, nor do i even

know HOW to use it.. the only person who knows how to use these fancy pants logic

analyzer's is adam of onecircuit. he is a genius and i wish 100 youtube videos existed

to teach people how to use these better. or have adam come over and hold my hand and

tell me how to use them! haha gd it i hate (and love) all this techy shit.

so... what does the 16500C have over the 1650A? that's my curiosity...

If you can use a logic probe or oscope you can use a logic analyzer. Just think of it as a logic probe but rather than hearing beeps the states are drawn on the screen over time (like an oscope) except that you can have many many many more than one input drawn at a time.

That said logic analyzers are overkill for most arcade repair as you don't need to monitor 50channels at a time (great for reverse engineering a chip though), but if you have one try using it instead of your Logic Probe. It's also cool if you do have a chip that you do need to compare various states at a time.

Try using it on a simple or or and gate etc to verify outputs match the inputs or on a ram chip or something to monitor the outputs as /cs goes low.

The problem with logic analyzers is they are unusually just so big that it's cumbersome to use on a workbench for fixing, but they have some nice tiny computer controlled ones now that are small for hobbies etc.

Can we start another thread on logic analyzers outside of my for sale thread? This unit that I am selling provides a LA and an oscope in one mainframe. It is a different animal than what y'all are discussing in my for sale post.

....and with that, the thread came to a screeching halt

GLWTS. I have too much other stuff I don't use so I cannot in good conscience purchase this

I'd probably pick it up as it's nicer than the older hp I have but I bet it would cost a small fortune to ship. gLWS
