Just wondering if the HP1630G logic analyzer is decent logic analyzer, also how useful are logic analyzers for repairing game boards. I already have a scope and was thinking of getting a logic analyzer to go with it

I recommend an HP1661,1662,1663 A or C. Or an HP16500 with a decent logic analyzer module.

Whats the difference between the hp's and the tektronix tla's?

Jrok has a post on here somewhere that I can't find about the tek's having dell mobo's in them. Which makes them easy to repair.

I don't know too much about the TLA series. I did get the chance to use one of the newer ones, I think it was a TLA711 and for a Windows-based OS I thought it was very good. I've 'ad woise.

I came across a 1630g for $30 with 7 pods but no leads for the pods is that worth it? Are they leads hard to come by and are all hp leads universal?

Wow, nice find! I don't know anything about the value in particular, but $30 seems like a hard price to beat. As long as you can get leads for it, you're golden.

Hey Cliffo whats up? That's the thing I don't know if I can get leads for it or how much they would cost. Do you have a logic analyzer to work on your games ?

No, but I've been looking for one for awhile. I think if I came across a $30 one I'd jump on it. In fact, if you decide to pass on that one... ;)

Ever get your Avalanche working, or is that what the Analyzer is for?

Did get it working, changed a few caps on the monitor and it did work for a bit. Started to play the game for about 10 minutes and it went dead on me and I know it is the game board now because it won't even coin up and there is no sounds so that is why I am looking for an analyzer.

I just came across a Sony Tektronix 338 Logic Analyzer is it any good or should I stick with an HP? How amny channels should an analyzer have, the sony has 32 channels.
