Hi there, thanks for having me.

I found the forums googling info on Arcade PCBs and just general info about arcade systems. I am in love with older sprite based games, I'm in the animation industry and have a passion for good character design and animation. I found that other than the animated films and series of the 80's and 90's, the video games of that era also displayed some of the best looking visuals I know. Ontop of that, you could actually play this beautiful artwork and have fun! I also enjoy tinkering and computers so its natural for me to have fallen in love with arcade hardware, for now, especially the PCBs.

I don't own a machine yet (looking for my hearts desire, good condition original Sega Candy Cabinet or Naomi Universal Cabinet) but I do own quite a bit of PCBs, all original. I hope to find a cabinet and then enjoy them in it.

I wasn't referred, but I signed up.

Where in SA? I've been scuba diving in Durban and Sodwana. Loved everything about your country and can't wait to go back.

Welcome to the group here.
Hey that's awesome! I stay in Cape Town but know of Durban for sure...nice tropical weather and warm waters. South Africa is beautiful for sure.

Thanks for dropping by and being so kind. Really appreciate it.

My cousin married a South African and lives in Capetown, I will come by that way next time I am there, maybe we can meetup for a braai.

Being an animation expert, what 2 games do you think are the best graphics / animation? (Laser disc not included :) )

Everything I know about South Africa I learned from Die Antwoord.... Kinda like everything I know about Germany I learned from Rammstein. Yes...sad but true..... I need to get out more and spend less time in my headphones and on YouTube.

Welcome to a fun filled text based knowledge factory!

Hey @SCUBA King , for sure, that would be cool! For sure, let me know when you're coming and we can arrange something.

The games you want to know of, I assume it has to be Arcade related?

If its Arcade related then:

1. Street Fighter 3 Third Strike (CPS3) (Insane animation on this one for sure and awesome character design)
2. Marvel and Capcoms The Punisher (CPS1.5 Dash) (Same here, one of my favourite to look at)

If its sprite based games in general:

1. Earthworm Jim for the Sega CD / Megadrive or PC (My all time favourite game, looking and gameplay)
2. Three Dirty Dwarves for the Sega Saturn (wow, amazing character design, graphics and animation here again)

I hope that answers your question :) and thanks for asking!

Hey @Fluxar

I know of them yes, hectic stuff and not sure that they would represent SA properly to be honest. More shock value than anything else in my opinion.

Thanks for the welcome!

Yeah, totally agree... I think the US is famous for shock value and people forming a world wide opinion that truly doesn't represent most of us here in the States. I was a bit joking about Die Antwoord. That just came to mind as it was drilled into our music heads for that late 2000's period. I think today it's more Elon Musk. :)

SA is a place I would love to visit one day, and its pretty far up on my personal list.
