Hello from the banks of the beautiful Deschutes river in north-central Oregon. We have a couple pinball machines and are looking to expand our game room with some cool arcade video games. The wife is looking for a Death Race so she can relive her glory days in junior high :). I think I have a line on an original Asteroids as well. Into vintage radios and TV repair so looking forward to finding some fun projects in the near future!

Welcome. Nice to see a fellow Oregonian on these boards. Your pinball machines look nice as does the game room. I also dig old TVs and radios.

You should hit up @Brick Top and get on the Portland Arcade Collectors (PAC) email list. We have a good number of folks around here in the hobby.

Hope you are able to grab that Asteroids!

Thanks - I've requested to get on the mailing list for PAC. Yep - getting the old stuff working again is a fun hobby. And you know you're a serious dork when you have a TV transmitter in your basement so you can watch Gilligan's Island like it was 1965 again :)

Welcome!

I love that red & white TV. And a transmitter? In the basement? Really? You win the contest for today.

I have an old Philco Radio that was my dad's. IIRC, I think it's a 40-135. Not in the greatest shape, but HUO. :ROFLMAO:
I bought new tubes for it around 1988-90...FROM RADIO SHACK believe it or not!
But that failed to get it working. Now that I know what I'm doing, I'll dig into it and make it work.

Someday.

I've had some outstanding beverages from your neighborhood.
Nice start on a game zone.
Where'd you find a bingo machine that looks THAT good?!

Welcome to the forum, love your game room and cool hobbies.I'll get you on our list.

That's a beautiful part of the state as well! Done a lot of camping down river from you when the crowds go away in the winter time.

Thanks all - Got lucky on the bingo. One of the guys in the North West Vintage Radio Society let it go for $200 and it's in great shape. EM bingo machines are engineering marvels. That back box probably weighs 150lbs and looks like an engine from a 50's car inside. Multiple cam shafts, clutches, motors and probably a thousand leaf switches/spinning contact points all working together. And it smells like 40 weight oil inside the box :). I don't think there's a single resistor or capacitor in the entire machine.

Love those TVs. Is your transmitter a Blonder Tongue? @mcdermd told me about them and I got one set up in the living room to do some broadcasting. Really fun to play around with.

Yes - I got one of the Blonder Tongue units on Ebay and it works quite well. Much easier than hooking up a DVD player to individual sets.

I've got a 1956 Packard Bell console TV. I got the equipment to broadcast like you're doing but never took the time to get it going. Instead I have it hooked up to a computer for watching all my black and whites.

Rad! Welcome aboard. Damn fine skill set and taste to bring to the table. Those Admirals are indeed admirable.
