If you have been following my Omega Race repair status thread, you'll see that for some reason, the 9-pin connector that goes to the linear PS board from the filter assy is missing the ground wire at the #1 pin location for some reason. I would like to add this in, but need to know where I would put the end heading towards the filter assy? Can I just screw it into the frame of the filter assy? I know that there are little tabs on the assy that the different wires all connect to, but I believe that they are all filled and do not see one specifically for a ground wire.

Thanks!

Well it techincally goes to pin 8 of the plug mounted on the top of the filter, which then in turn goes to the bolt at the foot of the transformer.

Even better! I was just concerned because I didn't remember there being any open tabs left on the filter assy, so I didn' tknow where this thing was supposed to go.

I may need a pic with an arrow saying "HERE" as to where it should go, but let me check tonight and see if I can figure it out going off of what you have provided. :D

I said I wanted an arrow.. KIDDING!!! :D

I guess what my concern is, what if the hole in the filter connector that the wire goes into from the linear PS is already populated by something else (which I think it is). Would I then run the ground wire directly from the linear PS to the chassis of the assy as Dave mentioned?

And more importantly, if my voltages are looking good as-is (as per your comments re: my drawing of your wiring order matched to mine), should I even bother doing this ground wire addition?

And finally, MANY THANKS FOR THE HELP TO ALL OF YOU WHO ARE WALKING ME THROUGH THIS

Well if the filter plug is populated that's your ground. You just need to get it from the Linear, to the filter, to the ground.

You can always run a wire to ground like Dave suggests, you will just have to remove it when you need to remove the power supply, as it won't be plug and play friendly anymore.

It's always a good idea to have good grounds. It's not 100% needed, but a good idea.

You've read all those posts about people having noise, resets, shocks, etc. That when said and done are all ground problems.

This is really great. All of my lights on the cab are working, and now I know after I get this last bit of PS crap out of the way I'll have a solid bottom end.

I'm starting to feel a twinge of hope for my OR for the first time in a year of owning it!

I would rewire the ground into the plugs, but it didn't sound like you wanted to go that route. Totally agree with Talon

I just want it safe and to be done 'right'. I checked the connector on the filter assy and both sides are fully populated and mine doesn't have the blue color wire like in talon's pics. So, I guess I will just have to match the position of the wire in Talon's pics and 'wing it'. I still don't get how the components can be so diff from one game to another of the same kind but I'm sure it happened alot.
