I love how they found one of the worst games ever made for the 2600 to show them some gameplay, and the "Commodore" was a Plus 4 and not a 64.

Fun news story! Kids Can indeed catch on very fast with classic tech - my youngest daughter now wields ColecoVision cartridges with the same ease she puts discs into the Wii.
Too bad they didn't have time to pull out a wood-encased floor model TV set with old-style channel dials for the game console in the story; that would have prompted some interesting introductions! I still haven't figured out a decent explanation for our faux-wood tech obsession of the 70s and early 80s. Did we subconsciously feel less alienated from the Atari 2600 and the Station Wagon because it was hewn with woodgrain images of Mother Nature?
To be fair, no one in the '80s knew how to use a Commodore Plus/4 either.
load "*",8,1 or something like that if you had a 1541 disc drive. I remember when tossed my tape drive away for the disc drive. It was like the fastest thing ever. It still took over a minute to load most games.
Loved summer and winter games. I also had some scrolling samuari game I played the crap out of.
My kids can't appreciate the old school games for more than a few minutes.
LOL ! In fact, no one had one....I could nver figure out why Commodore made that thing. Then again, I was a dedicated Atari 8 bit user.
I had a Commodore C16 with tape drive and amber monitor.![]()
Bah! An old Apple ][ with 16K and a RadioShack cassette player to load the programs. That would mess with their pointy little heads.
Or maybe an Altair with the toggle switches and the load instruction button to load the machine language directly into RAM.
*sigh* I miss the good old days.

Oh god, I HATED the C64 tape drive. I had two games for it - Beach Head and the original Jumpman.
I remember Beach Head literally taking an hour to load up. I would literally cheer when the "READY" prompt finally came up.
