How to wire this transformer?

I dug this transformer out of my heap of scrap cabinets. Anyone know which tabs are which? Is there a way for me to figure the wiring without plugging it in and blowing breakers?

Just make sure you have no continuity between any of the in lugs and any of the out lugs. You should only have continuity between the two ins, and between the two outs...
 
Yessir. That's how I figured it out. I decided to try to use my brain rather than rely on KLOV for every simple thing. No offense to you guys, because you help me A LOT....but I don't want to ask 14 questions per day.

I metered a transformer that I already had and saw how it was wired, then did the same with this one.
 
Well, hook up 120 to one set, then measure it on the other set. If it's still 120, then it'll work. Sometimes transformers "step-up" or "step down" the input voltage, and what you get out is not what you put in...
 
Did that hours ago. That's how I knew I figured it out. It is going inside my KI2 cabinet when the chassis gets back from Green Bay.
 
And don't forget to check for any resistance between all the terminals and the metal frame. Judging by the rust on it, this transformer may have been exposed to moisture.

Any resistance showing between the terminals and the metal frame means the transformer is electrically leaky and not safe for isolation. In other words, it would no longer be an isolation transformer.
 
How do I check that? I have to be spoon fed here.

I have a multimeter, but really not sure of how to use most of it.

I assume I want to set my dial somewhere between 6 and 9 o'clock on my meter?

Or on the continuity setting at 5:30 (the red mark next to the green ones with the sound output icon).

I could not get a beep between any of the terminals and the frame of the transformer.
 
I beep would indicate a direct short, sounds like Ken is also concerned about any resistance. Usually you set your meter on a high setting in Ohms, Usually 100k Ohms or so and see if you get any reading.
