OK without anyone saying a video of me hanging or burning my games what videos would be helpful for you guys. I know most of you know as much as my techs do but there are some I think it would be helpful. Give me some ideals while I have this video guy hired I will get it done. Our new web site will have a whole section for this stuff

Great!..I look forward to checking that section out!

.

When I 1st got into to this in my garage this would of been great and a lot of help. I have ADHD and all the other learning disabilities so reading a manual does not happen but if I can watch it being done step by step I can do it.

How about board testing and most common repair issues :) Recommendations on where to find replacement parts. :)

Make a video showing how to repair the no-sound issue on a working TRON pcb.

I know sometimes the sound roms need to be replaced too, but no one will tell me what other parts on the sound pcb may need to be repaired to make the sound work. And if not a video, at least show the points on the sound board that would commonly need the necessary parts replaced. I think that would help a whole bunch of people.

Trouble shooting will be a big video and power testing is next and a whole video section on EM repair tips. These are also helpful for us because when we ship a game a long distance some things happen and now we will be able to direct our customers to a site and they can follow step by step with our tech.
And my goal is to not just be a retailer but a asset to the hobby community as well, Chattanooga Pinball catches a lot of shit here but I think there is room for retailers in this forum in a positive way and with 80 years of tech experience here these guys can help. I wish I had this kind of help when I got into the hobby it would of saved me money and blood and pain. A lot of games I sold back in the day I sold because I gave up fixing them and wish I had them back now. If I had a good reliable source for help and one I knew the guy in the video knew what he was talking about a lot of those games would of became keepers.

Maybe you can make a HOW TO book on HOW TO turn my $300 CL find in to a $3000 RETAIL machine?

You tell me I cannot ever find anything on CL we never but anything of it.

What did you get?

Maybe you can make a HOW TO book on HOW TO turn my $300 CL find in to a $3000 RETAIL machine?

But let me give it to you in the short form.
1. Rent a building 4k per month
2. Spend about a million dollars on inventory
3. Hire techs and run a 89.00 per hour labor rate not including me
4. Spends 1000's on ads and TV and radio to build a base
5. Around 100k in tools and lifts
6. Set up relationships with shipping companies so you can have a global market place
7. Learn from F up's and become a good restorer of classic games
8. Do not throw cabs of roofs
9. Do not ship dirty Trons
10.Focus on restoring the classics and 60in1 the junk
11. Love your work

This should help you get started Friz

Oh yea I forgot pay a video guy 46.00 per hour to make these videos so it is not free. A lot going into these

Here's a few suggestions:

Installing a switching regulator power supply into a Pole Position.

Repairing burnt edge connector foil traces.

Cleaning and adjusting coin acceptors.

Using a picture tube rejuvenator for testing & restoring a CRT.

"How To Video" ideas

Dale:
Excellent foresight and I believe your efforts will be an asset to the community. I have read the negative crap written here on KLOV towards Chattanooga and believe there is room for retailers and DIY. Not everyone has the time or training to restore a game to pristine condition. That is why there are retailers/firms that will do it for you.

With that, here are some idea suggestions. To be upfront, I am begineer still to this hobby and some of the topics might sound basic but remember all of us started somewhere. Just picked a Red Baron upright. Definitely a project.

Some Ideas:
A. Power Supply - What is What? Condition and when to replace...

B. Wire Harnesses - What to look for? Maintence/cleaning and proper placement.

C. Side Art repair or Replacement: Some tips on how to do it better.

D. Tool Bench basics: What is on my tech's bench.

E. What to inspect when your machine gets to you from a Seller or your company?

F. AR I II, III, sound cards, misc boards

Red Baron we are doing one now very cool game. Those are great ideals and we will do from basic to advance videos. Everyone starts as a newbie but having a step by step teacher like David is great. He is a good teacher

1: How to make a discharge tool with a long screwdriver, coated wire, and an alligator clip - and how to safely discharge a monitor - see this asked alot.

2. How to do a basic cap kit - using a cheap radio shack solder sucker. most of us don't need an expensive desoldering tool.

3. Nintendo sound board repair/cap kit

Throwing games off a roof - i disagree. do it with some style, i suggest a catapult, or a cargo plane.

We could run a contest like nake all these PCB's and you can cut DPtwiz's mullet off

Well most of the basic stuff Randy has covered on YouTube. It would be good to have something on circuit repair and trouble shooting. I think some thing on reading schematics and using a logic probe would be cool. Trouble shooting the different circuits of a monitor.
