How to Transport Machines in the Rain...?

Hi all,

I am going to pick up a machine today and it looks like its going to be raining and unfortunately all I have is the back of my truck. Is wrapping them completely in plastic wrap going to keep out the rain? Will the plastic wrap harm the graphics or anything? Any better suggestions?

Thanks!

Jim

Plastic wrap, card board then more plastic wrap has always worked for me. That was timid Northern California rain not that nutty take the paint off of your house rain that we get in Dallas though!

The last couple of games I've moved in the rain, I usually just hose them down with some cheap dish soap and let the rain take some of the dust off...;)

Huh.

Ive moved 100's of games in the rain, literally hundreds. Go to rural king, famr and fllet, home depot, or somewhere like that and get a tarp. Lay the tarp down on the gound, then dolly the game to the center of the trap. Fold the tarp up on the sides as high as you can go, then shrink wrap the hell out of the game. being sure to go over the top real good.

You mentioned worrying about the wrap comming off with the drive. To prevent that, take a roll of packing tape, like the 2 inch wide kind. start at the bottom and just walk around the machine so that the tape goes about every 18 inches, this will keep the shinkwrap from being able to be frayed and coming off. If you do the game like this, not a single drop will get on the game.

Like a few others have said, once you get to your destination, remove all the wrapping.

The key part that i mentioned that others have not is by placing the game on the tarp you are covering the bottom. The bottom is actually the worst part that most dont cover. When you are driving, the water from the street actually flies up and back into your vehicle because of the air draft.

Lastly, if your game gets wet, dont sweat it. The game getting wet is not what hurts the game. The game staying wet is what does the damage. always wipe your game down when you get done with the trip to get the moisture from humidity off.

Thats exactly what I do. I have not moved as many as Troy but I have had good luck several times doing it this way.

It started raining on me when I was bringing home a basketball game. Just drive fast so the rain doesn't fall on it, and let it thoroughly dry before plugging it in!

:)

i've never moved in rain but have moved games in snow, and all i do is put the tarp down, lay the game on the tarp, put another tarp on the top, strap them together, and strap the whole thing down. works fine.

If I think it's going to rain, I shrink wrap the game. Then I "bag up" the game using a huge bag or two. Then I shrink wrap that also.

We made it home without our Mappy getting one drop of rain on it after a 6 hour drive from Ohio. Of those 6 hours it rained about 5 hours and 45 minutes. :)

I attached a few pictures of the game once we got it inside... you'll have to excuse my son... he was pretty darn tired after our 14 hour trip. :D

Oh BTW, if anybody else heats with wood pellets, I use the bag that goes around a full ton of pellets to wrap my games. They are just about the perfect size.

for some reason it usually seems to rain when Im picking one up. I put heavy plastic over it, shrink wrap it tightly and lay it down in the bed, cover it with a tarp, never had one get wet yet
left a pinball on the trailer for 4 days last year in freezing rain (picked it up while visiting relitives up north), never got wet

matress bags work very well if its standing up.

seal the bottom up first with the plastic cling wrap then cover the rest in the bag.

you can even cling wrap over the bag for 100 percent air tight waterproof protection.
