I've had a 100 in 1 MVS multi cart for a few years now. I used it a lot in my old single slot but it's sat in a shock box for the better part of the last couple years since I moved and got a dedicated 4 slot.

I was thinking the other day that one of these would be better for parties even though I don't care for them much and prefer to play my original carts. What I can't seem to remember how to do is get back to the menu once I'm already in a game. Is this possible without turning off or resetting the system? It seems like there is (or should be) a button combination to get back to the menu or something.

I have the 138-in-1 and it uses the 1-Player Start and 2-Player start buttons simultaneously. You have to hold them for a few seconds, so just hold them down for 10-20 seconds and see if that works on yours.

to me the length of time seems a bit long, but that way there isn't an accidental return to the menu :D

Have you tried holding down the 1 and 2 player buttons?

That's probably like the ONE combination I DIDN'T try. Jeez...and it seems like the most obvious, too. I'll give it a shot - thanks!

That didn't seem to work on mine. I guess I may not have tried as long as 20 seconds, but I tried over 10.

Oh well, nearly every game I tried either resets right away or after the intro anyway, so I probably won't have this out for parties after all :(

The multi-carts are quite finicky in the multi-slot boards. I know my 138-in-1 doesn't even want to work at all in my 4-slot, works sometimes in the 2-slot. And I just now got it working in one of my 1-slots after a bit of fiddling, so it is living there forever :)

But i understand you. I have been playing the neogeo a lot less since i put in the multicart. I like playing the original carts much more for some reason.

Yeah, I only recently read that they shouldn't be used alongside other carts in a multislot board, and of course should remain in slot one. I figured that may have been why I'd had such shitty luck with it on my 4-slot, but apparently not. I guess I really just need to get the MVS carts that I want for parties (I still need a Baseball Stars 2 cart!). I plan to build a CMVS out of my MV-1C this year, so the multicart may stay there as I think it played well in my 1C last time I tried it, though I don't recall now as that was a few years ago.

On my 120-in-1, holding down P1 start for 5-10s dumps you back into the game select menu. Not sure about other versions.

Yep, P1 start for 5 seconds on my 108-1. I'm also running a single slot though.

Same for my 100-in-1 (Hold P1 start for 5 seconds- 10 seconds ). I have a 2 slot and it's VERY finicky with other carts. The only one i found so far that plays nice is Bust-a-move in slot 2. In general I just pre-select whatever game would be available in the 100-in-1 and my guests toggle between "the new game" ;-) and Bust-a-move.

Side note: I Wish I could get a Metal Slug 5 to work in that slot 2. So far I was able to get a bootleg and something about it wasn't happy with the 100-in-1. Looking for the day I could have all Metal Slugs and SNK vs Capcom available at once. :-/

Same with the 161 in 1 board. Just hold P1 for about 5 seconds. I didn't think this was such a mystery.
