I just picked up a Judge Dredd. The playfield is in great shape and the game plays, but the bottom of the machine has seen some water and is ruined. It is the consistancy of a wet sponge and about an inch thick. Any one had any experience replacing the thin particle board on the bottom of the machine? My guess is that I will have to remove the back of the machine and slide a new board in. But any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for the link. That's what I was expecting. Seems like a lot of work, but it'll be fun.

I think that link applies to Older Pins.

Newer DMD pins have a slot cut in the plywood sides and the bottom is slid into it before the ends of the cabinets are glued together, probably going to have to do some sawing to remove the lip or take off one end of the cabinet to slide the new bottom in. Either way not going to be easy or fun.

OT: Yeah, I was being a little sarcastic when I said it was going to be fun. But I do enjoy working on these things. It gets my mind off of my real job. When I'm out in the shop, I get into a zone and don't even realize how much time has passed. It is a tension reliever for me. And to top it all off, my 13 year old son works on them with me. I get to spend a lot of time with him, just talking. Best hobby I've ever had!

Back on Topic: I think he took the end off of the game in the example. That's what I was expecting to have to do.

The machine in the tutorial is slotted for the bottom panel as well. The process is roughly the same.

Putting glue in the front and side chanels, and sliding the new
Lauan bottom panel in place.
