I've come across the first cab I've ever come across that doesn't utilize T-Molding on it's edges... Omega Race.

It uses what appears to be some sort of laminate perhaps?

What are the suggestions on restoration? Just paint over?

If this doesn't work, go to woodcraft.com and search for edge banding. They have a black melamine.

I've ironed the wood type edge banding on, like Lowes sells, to make 'slab' cabinet doors for some garage cabinets. With that, I used a razor then sanded to trim. For this melamine, I think you'd HAVE to get the edge banding trim tool. I think Lowes sells it.

Also, I've used a regular iron, on a low/no steam setting for this. Looks like that would work, except might be tricky at that curve near the control panel.

There are dedicated edge banding/veneer irons, like this:

but I don't know that it would be any easier in the tightest curves. I bet you could get the regular iron to do the job. I'd definitely stick a foot of this on the edge of some scrap 3/4" wood to test the trimming. I think trimming would be the toughest part, and where screwing up would make it look like ass. Done right, I think this would be the ideal solution.

Ooooo...thanks for posting that. I've been looking for something to make a repair on my Donkey Kong. It's the Edge of the part that sits above the Control Panel and below the bezel. No idea what it's called, but Mine is missing the laminate/melamine. I think this just might do the trick.

I am struggling with the same thing. I was planning on just sanding to
get out minor dings/scratches and painting as my edges are in mostly good shape.

You could get some thin t-molding and route a slot. :D I actually did this on a Japanese SI cocktail clone just because I wanted it to match my others plus nobody else wanted the game but I know it would be easily reversible to get it back to original if I ever wanted.

At work we use self adhesive edge banding like this: http://www.eagleamerica.com/product/v443-2210/edge_banding

This isn't the exact brand I use, I forget the manufacturer right now but it works great. Even on cabinets that get spills on them it stays in place with no problem.
