I've got 8 wg4600s I was going to part out, and was wondering if the yokes would be useful?

If so, does anyone know of any good tutorials on how to remove the yoke? I can take off the chassis, daughterboards, and neckboard, but what should I remove from this thing?

A little research shows that it's done all the time on this forum, and that it shouldn't take too long, I'm just wondering how it's done..

Thanks in advance!

There are usually 1 or 2 metal clamps around the neck that are held in place with screws. Loosen those screws. From there you just need to carefully work at sliding the purity rings then the yoke off the back of the neck of the tube. The purity rings and yoke will likely be stuck in place from years of not being moved. So you have to gently work them to get them to come loose and slide off the neck. That's about it. Not hard at all. Just make sure to keep all the parts together and label them with the model of chassis they came off of for future reference.

And expect a few tabs to break off where the clamps are in the process.
No biggie as long as a couple are left intact for the clamp to go back onto.....just expect it to happen.

A gentle rocking/twisting motion will usual break them loose from the tube after removing the clamp. Sometimes you may won't to slide a thin blade of sorts under a tab to help.

Yeh, these still produce a picture better than anything made today!

I really wish I had the time and resources to fix these things... Even more-so, I wish that these things would sell as a whole unit without having to break them up.

A while back I tried to repair several with cap kits, swapping color transistors and re-flowing the daughterboard connector pins, but i never seemed to get any of them back up and running. Now I have a second kiddo, even less time, and even less finances...

All eight of 'em have been listed for sale for awhile, but there was no interest in the complete units. I'm not complaining or anything, it just is what it is. So to clear them out, I had thought parting them was the best way to go.

How much for complete non-working monitors? If they're cheap enough, I might pick them up. I've got plenty of cabs missing monitors...

I know, but you're close enough, and I hate to see monitors go to waste if they can be used.

Of course, if you don't want it to be a 'for sale' thread, you can always make it a 'for free' thread.... :D
