Hi All,

I am trying to replace the fan on a Gaelco Rolling Extreme, it looks simple, 4 screws.

Before I pull this thing out I'd like to know if the cage can be opened. It sounds silly but mine appears to be spot welded at 4 points along the top, if there's no way inside I'll just mount a high powered fan over the broken one and be done with it.

Here's a picture of a similar unit, maybe some of you know this model and how it's put together, I'd hate to think it was built as a throw away but this is my first exposure to this model of cage and generally speaking, other non-arcade hardware loves to dispatch throw away cages, they are all the rage therefore I'm a little hesitant to pull it without knowing if this has been made as a tamper proof device.

Regards - Dan

I seem to recall getting those open. I think the board slides out one end (as in the end with the interface board on it). Take all those screws out and gently pull the board out.

Thank You!! They used the tamper proof screws too!!

Thanks All! I fought for 5 hours to remove all the tamper proof screws using a tool I picked up at Home Depot.

Next, it was a simple matter of sliding off the external PCB which was connected to the internal one via a multipin,

Lucky for me the fan screws were right on top, now I'm off to buy a new fan.

I was hoping there was a secret latch or something but after 5 hours I am pleased to say all is well, the tamper proof screws will be replaced with standard screws during reassembly...

Cheers -- Dan
