Is there a trick to opening a Vectrex game cartridge? I see one screw which I removed, but the cart doesn't just slide apart, seems to be held together with tabs. I don't want to crack the casing or tabs, anyone here have experience doing this.

OK, managed to answer my own question. For future reference if anyone else needs to know, I'm posting a couple of pics so that people will know where the tabs are inside the case. Instructions are as follows:

1. Locate and unscrew single philips head screw.

2. GENTLY push in where tabs are indicated on one side of case and GENTLY pry open from that side while pushing forward toward the connector opening to get the back tab unhooked. You DO NOT need to pry it open with any tools, your hands should be sufficient.

Hints: You can see the front tabs in the connector opening, this should clue you in to which side is which as far as the tabs go. The case is very hard and not pliable at all so do be careful and don't apply too much pressure.

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!! If you have any reservations about possibly damaging your cartridge(s), DO NOT try to open it. Also, I only opened one game cart, so I can't guarantee that they're all the same inside.

Please say you did not just destroy a Hyper Chase!

Rest assured, no games were destroyed for this. Wanted to fit a multi cart in there, but discovered there are three support posts inside the casing that would get in the way so I just reassembled it. I'd hate to do anything that couldn't be reversed. Does anyone make empty new cart cases for Vectrex?

Did you pickup Richard's new SD based Vectrex cartridge board? I've got one on the way but no eta yet.

Glad you got it open. I used to use a hammer on Atari cartidges. That works too!

Oh Wait, you wanted to be able to put it back together again.

Never mind.........

Xray2: I went with a 72 in 1 cart for now, but definitely want one of those SD card ones in the future.

YellowDog: LOL!
