Hey folks.

Tomorrow, I pick up a Vs. The Goonies in a DK jr. cab. I have to make a two hour trip, both ways.

I will be taking a short bed truck, and laying the cab on its back (no other option).

Apparently, the game fires up nicely...and I'd like to keep it that way if at all possible.

Any advice on how to best haul this thing back to my neck of the woods with minimal chance of distruction? Should I pull the board(s)?

Thanks all!

number 1.

be sure all screws are tighen especially monitor. be sure everythign is stable and strong ..

carefully lay on the back of bed and drive.. be sure to strap it em up. You may want to make a cushion for the cab laying on the back so there wont be any scratches on it..

if board are held inside tightly .. it should be okay.. i have moved nintendo cabinets 10+ of times and all delivery with no problem by laying on the back.

good luck.

I've moved a lot of Nintendo cabs. Most times everything goes fine. If you were to do anything, unplug and remove the monitor. If you want to take it further, remove the marquee light bulb but it isn't necessary.

I never removed the monitor, and was fine a dozen or so times. I was so upset the one time its neck broke, that I now do it just so I don't have to replace a Sanyo in addition to everything else the cab needs.

Thanks wmacmonagle, mike29,

I'm going to use a combo of straps, moving blankets, and funoodles (for padding).

I'll check the screws before hauling. Good to hear they can ride on their backs without monitor damage... most of the time. Removing the monitor might be a time sensitive issue for me, I'm picking it up off of someone from craigslist.

I guess I'll take my chances on it. Wish I could pad it internally somehow for the trip.

Turn it on and inspect it before you take it. Take all of the coins out of the coin box and remove anything else that's loose in the cab. Make sure the coinboor is secure and the PCB is bolted in. Move it carefully.

I've moved several Nintendo's this way without a problem. Be CAREFUL where you grab and with the back edges. The base may not be the best place to grab and may fall apart if you pull on it too much (or it may hold). The back edges are a major place you see chipped and torn up, usually because people tilt or slide the cabinet on something as they're moving it. Use a blanket to protect the cab.
