I have a Neo Geo MVS-4-25 cabinet that I'd like to be able to switch between the game already in and Mame. The Neo Geo pcb has been removed, and has a Jamma SNK vs Capcom Chaos board inside that works fine. It isn't that hard to put an old laptop inside and hook up the controls to make it work, but I'm having a difficult time finding info on switching between the 2. I would like to have a DPDT with center off toggle switch control which platform I use, also so I can keep it plugged in, and have an off switch, then be able to choose which game I'd like to play. So I guess my questions are these

1 - What would the specs need to be on the switch - how many amps (I'm figuring 120 volts) would the switch need to be able to handle?

2 - How would the wiring go? One side would be monitor/pcb, the other side would be laptop/monitor, and center would be off.

3 - Although I'd rather not ask this - is this idea going to require a flux capacitor and is way more complicated than just finding the right switch and doing some rewiring?

Thanks,

USN

My only guess for no responses is that I said the dirty word - Mame, or was it Flux Capacitor? Either way I believe I've found what I need. For anyone else that's interested check out this website...

About half way down the page he explains how to do it. The paragraph starts with "Oh... before I run off".

Thanks,

I would like to rename this post the following - It doesn't matter what switch you use, the controls aren't compatible.

Mame and Jamma controls do not work in the same place at the same time. I realized this when i was looking at adding wiring to the existing controls. I saw that the common wire is jumpered between several of the switches, which makes it a disaster if i would've gone ahead with the wiring for Mame/Jamma (circuit 101). If I had another similar Jamma board there would be no problem, but alas, I do not.

If there's something I'm missing please let me know, but I think I just need to come up with a plan B. Thanks for making me learn the hard way.

If you were to install an IPAC or other key coder that would use a common ground you would likely be ok. I hacked a usb controller for mine and the common ground messed me up badly. Not sure what route you were thinking of going. I didn't try it but believe seperating the jamma grounds would not help that issue. Good luck.
