Not sure if the monitor I have is med res or not. Is there a list of known med res chassis available somewhere?

What I thought was a 4900 chassis is only giving me a blue screen when connected to a Blasteroids. The monitor came out of a double dragon (another stand res game). I know the Blasteroids pcb works, just curious if it could be a res issue.

4900 med res chassis have an extra board mounted to the top of the chassis on the left side (when viewed from the back).

The board is small, maybe 1"x1" and has one pot that is glued in place.

The extra board is not always an indicator.

The easiest way to determine is by the IC on the chassis. The standard and medium-res versions use different IC's. Also, if you have the entire monitor, the yoke is different between the two as well.....

So there's no list of known Med Rez chassis? I can't find many photos at all of 19" med rez monitor chassis. Then again, my search fu has a ways to go.

Mod, if you can find an example....I'd love to see one.

Sure there are numbers for Medium-res chassis. The K4915 (19") and K5515 (25") are medium-res versions of the K4900/K5500. The K7500 is medium-res, and the K7915 is the medium-res version of the K7000.

However, it's not always easy to tell just by looking if you don't already know the chassis model number. That's why looking at the parts on the chassis is helpful.

Here is a K4900 chassis. I don't know if it is standard or medium-res (although probably standard as there are more):

Here is a K5515, the 25" version, and a medium-res chassis. It looks just like the K4900, but you can see the little board attached to the right wall. For the K55xx chassis', though, it's not indicative of medium-res, as I have a K5501 (standard-res) with the same board:
