So i bought a power suitcase from a fellow member on here. He sent it with nothing to protect it in transit other then putting a box over it.

well in transit it banged around knocking alot of parts around causing the big blue caps to get loose with one having a quite a big ding in it.

the seller blames the post office but in this case i would have to say it was his lack of proper packaging. what actions if any do you think i should take?

does it work? If it works, I would let it pass and never buy from the guy again. Big blues were proably loose to begin with. You should replace them anyway so not that big of a deal. I would add the box looks pretty good. If abused, it would have been torn up. I would say te damage was there before shipping.

Yes, shitty packing, but something like a suitcase would be pretty hard to pack. No one takes the time to double box or provide 3" of protection.

Ask for a refund, or partial refund.. Send it back.. Complain here.. Replace the big blue with a dent (cause its prolly time to). Try working it out with the seller.. If not, leave negative feedback..

Yeah, the seller did a half ass packing job. It's his fault, not the post office.

That's about it man.. It sucks

if it was shipped as it appears in the pics with an empty box open side to the PS then I see why it moved around. Sad part is that if the box was turned with the open side away from the PS and packing material on the sides of the box the PS may not have moved much in shipping.

That almost beats my packaging horror story. Paid a fortune for a reel to reel player and about 50 bucks shipping... when the damn thing comes it was just dropped in a box, but the box was too short so they just stuck the prongs (the pieces you put the reels around that spin to make sound) out of holes they cut in the top of the box! Needless to say they were bent to hell and every tape played on the machine sounded demonic.

I approve of your term "piss poor". lol. Cracks me up whenever I hear it.

<burps>

K, I'm going back to my boring life now.

At least he put a 2nd box in so it woulden't get completly damaged.

I rember once I recived a 3 layer board in a flat rate box with out any packing in it
Needless the board was a damaged.

But now the board works, just have to fix what you can.

What happened to all the packing material I put around the inner box to hold it in place? All of the bubble wrap and void fill? And let's see the damage. All I see are pictures of an item in a box.

I'm a little confused, this is the second item you claim I sent you that was "damaged", I asked for these pictures a few times, and now I have to see them on the group. I ship a ton of stuff, to a lot of happy people, I'm just amazed at how 2 items to you get broken, and then you PM me about "damaged suitcases" or something, prompting my response to wonder why you get so many damaged items, is it your post office, or are you running some kind of scam? You sent me PM obviously intended for someone else about "suitcases" - is that a form letter you use to claim damage and get refunds? Where are the pictures of the first supposedly damaged item I sent you? I'm not sure how I can ship a hundred items a month, including glass, and the 2 I send to you get damaged. Odds seem high on that. I have sent you the insurance slip to make claim with post office.

There are others on here who can attest to my packing and shipping. I think it's your post office, unless you are running a scam.

Did you get your 'suitcase' claim rectified?

Just strange, the box doesn't look damaged at all. I am having a hard time buying your story. But I have made my offer to end our dealings.

Piss Poor came from the old days, if you were really poor, you saved your piss in a pot, and then took it to the tannery and SOLD it to them! They used human piss to treat leather.

If you were even poorer than that, the poorest person in town, you didn't "Have a pot to piss in"

Yeah, bad wrapping job.

Shipping can take time to learn the right ways. Not everyone ships 100's of packages a year. I am still wondering, does it work?? Maybe the upside down box did work as a cushion? Much like the air pockets used so much now?

It's an AR-type supply by the looks of it, not a delicate pcb. Metal plate, transformer, fuse block and big blue. Unless there is something else to dent the big blue in there, I cannot really think that the wire would do it. I personally would wrap in bubble wrap so it's not how I would ship, but it doesn't look like the box (either) are damaged from moving around and an AR-type power supply cannot really damage itself..

He's calling the power supply/transformer block a suitcase. So that might clear up that part..

OP, how about you try exhausting all avenues of private communication with the seller before publicly outing him. It kinda sucks you didn't give him a chance to refund you before seeing his name in a public forum.

Your lucky this guy is offering you a refund.. As I would have thought twice about it if I was the seller..

Take care of this crap behind the scenes man.

Hey local413.....at no point did I ever mention the seller. He actually revealed himself. I jist wanted peoples opinions on what i received.

Even if you didn't out him you shouldn't ask for people's opinions without posting pictures of ALL the packing material. The seller claims there was additional packing material/bubble wrap/void fill. Is the seller lying or did you just omit all the other stuff before taking pictures? The seller also claims this is your second item purchased that arrived broken. Was the first item received with poor packaging as well?

Hah... I often use the term but I had no idea that was how it originated.

Yes, i'm the seller, I thought it right to speak up here, I asked for pictures of all of this damage of not one, but 2 items, and I have to see pictures, finally, here on the group, rather than e-mailed to me directly, and incidentally, I don't see any damage.

And in 25 years of collecting games, I've NEVER called a power brick or transformer assembly a "suitcase" - that is just dumb. It's a power transformer assembly, not a fucking suitcase. I must have not kept up with new lingo on 30 year old game parts. I still say that message about a damaged 'suitcase' was for some other supposedly 'damaged item' this buyer got, or some cut and paste often used complaint message, I don't know. I sent him the insured slip so he could take it up with the post office, but I was told they didn't understand it or some shenanigans. Maybe they don't believe him either, I don't know.

I'm going to give this guy a partial refund, take my loss on it, and move on. I was trying to do the right thing, help the hobby, get people parts they need, and still, I am getting hosed by it.

So whatever, I'm done with it. I packed it right, along with his other shipment, and with the hundreds of other things I pack and ship every month, I get no complaints or claims, yet I get 2 from this guy in a matter of a month, so you make your own judgments on that angle.

I'm done with it and him. Move on.

New poll - who here calls a Midway power transformer assembly a "suitcase"??? Fucking dumb dumb dumb.

i would like to get a few things out of the way up front.

first. i would like to mention i didn't oust the seller. he revealed himself. if you read the entire thread you would have picked up on that. not being an ass but not doing so and throwing stones isn't cool.

secondly this thread was started to see what people thought of the packaging. what you see is what i took pictures of as i opened. i didn;t receive this item with any additional packaging material. i however will not call him a liar. i received the package and the top was extra taped. so may something have happened to it in transit who am i to say. was it send without packaging....idk. now i been in constant communication with the seller trying to resolve the issue. i mentioned that the few people that responded initially to this thread thought it was in bad taste to package it the way it is. having never shipped a power suitcase (a word mind you older operators used and i adopted) i didn't know what a proper way to package it would be. i obviously would put alot of bubble wrap if i sent something like this but i also thought maybe this is a piece that can handle well in transit with minimun packaging. that obviously isn;t right the way i received it.

third. not that it matters because there has been resolve to it but since it was brought up and i am being questioned about it. yes i purchased a metal bracket off the same user. when i received it it was almost folded in half. i do have a picture of it but after about two weeks of going back and forth with the post master at our local place i was properly refunded. i know for a fact the seller wouldn;t bend metal and then ship it unless of course his taste in humor is like that, which i doubt it is.

so as it stands now and my current place on this site. i have dealt with quite a few users now that can speak of me in a positive light. i don;t believe i had a bad dealing with anyone one here quite honestly. this situation thou is what it is. i been dealing with it now for 2 weeks and the seller opted to give me a partial refund which i believe is acceptable. so would i personally do business with ashes again... under the right circumstance yes. i believe the first item was something beyond his control. this current situation i didn't know how to take it but at least there is some closure once i receive the refund. the items were shipped in a timely matter and his communication has so far been steady. i don;t however appreciate being called a scammer or that i am trying to scam. this is a hobby i love and even thou i don;t know a great deal of you, having similar interest i wouldn't want any of the fellow members being screwed by anyone nor would i want to do that to anyone myself.
