How to handle a warehouse raid when you have no room?

As soon as I get my arcade hauler fixed (I think either the starter went out or the electrical system fried itself...fuuuu), I will be going through a warehouse and hopefully bringing back several cabinets. I say that with both excitement and despair, because I cannot fit a single last game into my garage. For those whom are tapped out of space yet cant fight the addiction to buy more, what is your solution? Storage unit? Friends house? Backyard?

Walk away.

Walk away.

Seconded. If you don't have the room, getting more stuff is a great way to make the hobby un-fun, and make life difficult for anyone living with you.

Or sell off a few of your projects or least favorite games first. That's what I do when I want to get new stuff. It is sometimes hard to pick what to get rid of, but I always seem to find a nicer or better replacement once I do.

If you can walk away, then you are not truely an addict :D
sorry.. couldn't resist...

I say, if you can't stash them anywhere then either get a buddy in on the deal if you can, or pass along the info to another klov'er.

cheers

I am no where near an addict. I've been downsizing for over a year now and it feels better and better as I go. The thing is, you can walk away from deal after deal and down the line, there will still be deals. No money? No room? Walk away. The deals will still find you.

You need to meet at least a couple people who will pack their garage with anything that is a good deal. lol

If you can wait until next Thursday to go, I may be able to go with you. I have a big deadline at work, so I can't take off before then.

Do NOT get a storage unit. If you can't fit any more games in the garage, you already have too many. Unless the warehouse is full of I Robots and Reactors, walk away.

Walk away. Buying machines you don't have room to physically store much less display is a great sign that things are starting to get out of hand.

umm...build another shed?

but seriously if you really want to do this get some partnters and go after it so evryone gets the machines they want.

Simple.. Sell more..
Remember space cost money..
Having a pile will just tend to over whelm the collector.
If your trying to squeeze that last dollar out of the machine will make that game sit longer. That space could be used to collect a game that has more value.

I almost passed by the mad planets not because of the cost of the game or the time or distance. It was space.

Build another garage, thats what I do. I dont believe in storage units other than short term storage. You can quickly waste more money than the contents are worth.

storage as long as you have a plan to get out of it. Friends and family can be a source too. I have a few games with friends and family.

If you have room at your home, maybe build storage.

LOL this is a great thread. Some sensible "walk away" posts, some self serving like mine, and then some downright sympathetic addicts! I love it. =)

Point other collectors to them. Get them a good deal.

Or sell some of your games at lower value than you normally would to free up room if there is something that you just can't pass up.

But yeah....don't over-fill. Over filling sucks.

I've been letting dirt-cheap games go lately for just this reason. I'm borderline now. Don't want to cross the line into suck-ville.
