I have a Dig Dug that I am trying to clean. The white sides are stained yellow which I assume is from cigaret smoke. I have tried Greased Lightning, Mineral Spirits, and a Magic Eraser. Non have taken the yellow tint out. The side art and paint are in good condition otherwise.

Does anyone know of a product or technique to get the yellow out?

Thanks.

I had yellow stains on the side of a cabinet. thought it was nicotine. goof off cut it a little bit, maybe 25%.

then it was pointed out the yellowing was from being in a greasy restaurant/bar environment. still haven't figured out exactly how to cut the yellow stains without removing the cabinet paint...

Havent tried it myself, but what about making a paste out of baking soda and perhaps even adding toothpaste and peroxide? I know baking soda paste cleans coffee stains very well, so in theory it should work. Only concern would be the wetness on the wood... But if you didnt leave it on long might be ok.

If it was indeed Cigarette smoke that caused it, then a simple bath with 409 and magic eraser would have taken it off in seconds. Since it remains, I'm not sure that's your problem. It may be that the white has just yellowed. This is why there are so many beige plastics, as white turns yellow.

I used windex a couple times and took the yellow right out. Be careful though as too much will take the paint off of the cabinet. I sprayed it on pretty good and let it sit a minute before cleaning it off-you could see the yellow bleed down.

I just used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to remove black smudges and yellowing from the side art of my Crystal Castles machine. It worked wonders!

Be sure to try it on a small test area first to make sure it doesn't have an adverse effect on your art...

**DOH** Just re-read your first post and realized you tried this already, sorry for the ignorance!!!

An old op showed me how to use rubbing alcohol to clean cabinets. I just bought a Dig Dug and he took and started cleaning the sides with it, cleaned it right up. Be sure to change the sides of the rag when cleaning though, or you will rub what you took off right back on.

I think the yellowing on your artwork is the decal itself though. Probably will never clean off without damaging the artwork. I'd ask RikiTiki from This Old Game on here, he'd probably know if the sideart could yellow over time or from the environment it was in.

Finally got the yellow out! Dig Dug side art is a big viynal and it had turned yellow with age. Brian from Gamestencils.com gave me some suggestions and said if those failed I could try RetroBrite.

RetroBrite is a home made formula for turning old yellowed electronics back to their former glory. You basically mix the stuff up, brush on and expose to uv light. I applied and put the cabinet outside in the sun and checked back in an hour. I was amazed that all the yellow was gone and my Dig Dug was white again.

I have uploaded two photos showing my results.
