I see this question alot.. Where do I start.

See post #12 of this thread.

Check all those things.
Then Report your findings in a post as this will help us help you more.

If you cannot test, replace, solder, etc, then your best bet is to send the board out for repair, before you damage it further.

I don't know how many times I've had to repair a board that someone tried to replace "this" or "that" only to make matter worse, and that makes it harder to repair. Because I don't often get the full story of what happened :)

Hope this helps you.

I thought the proper way to "fix" a Tempest went something like this...

1.) Take original non-working parts out and list on eBay as untested, but worked the last time you plugged it in.

2.) Install a switching power supply, xx-in-1 board, and whatever regular monitor you have laying around.

3.) Drill a bunch of holes in the control panel and install at least one trackball, two joysticks, and about a dozen buttons.

4.) List on CL and eBay as classic, antique, rare video game that plays Ms. Pac, Galaga and xx other games for only $1,899.

5.) Watch it rotate out and get re-listed on both eBay and CL year after year.

Most other classic games can be fixed this way too, but it usually works best on games with uniquely shaped cabinets or controls. Stuff like Tron, Star Wars, Defender.

The Star Wars I have right now had a N64, 19" color television, and a steering wheel controller in it when I got it. So don't let your imagination be limited to just using it for arcade-style games.
