Have a Vanguard cab that's got a chunk out of the front edge. I cut out the piece that someone had stuck in place with some caulk and have made a new piece out of a trashed donor cab. Cutting the replacement piece on the table saw worked great with no chipping of the wood or black laminate. Have no idea how to square up the missing area though. Would a router with straight cutting bit would do a good job on particle/laminate? I suppose I could try it on the trashed piece, but I'd rather not ruin a good router bit.

Any ideas?

i used a roughter on my 3/4 particle board coated with malimine it came out real good
just pushed nice and slow to not get chips. are you going to relaminate it if not you will still have a small line between the two cuts

Not going to relaminate, side art is too nice. Hoping I can get the joint tight enough that the seam on the black side isn't too noticeable. Not too worried about the woodgrain side. I think that should blend pretty well. Don't think I could screw up bad enough to make it worse than it was. Well, I could...but I'll try to be really careful. :)

Saw a spiral cutting bit for a router today. Wonder if that would work better than a standard straight cutting bit.
