This is the last Daytona USA question I'll ever ask. I promise.

When I have my wheel to center, it seems that it's not actually center as far as the game thinks. Shouldn't it be for the track selection, that center would be right in the middle of track selection? I hate to turn all the way right to make it select Expert... but barely move it left at all to pick Beginner. Is there a way to have it reprogram itself to know where center should be? Should have nothing to do with force feedback, as this is the stand up unit at doesn't even have that. Thanks for looking.

Actually, I think I figured out how to do this. I see the pot is only attached by two screws. I can just unscrew one side, adjust the pot to center, then slide it back into place. Boom, centered. So, never mind!

steve, now that they both work your gonna be down there all night man lol

lol, nah... gotta go to bed. Thanks again. Next time you see these, they will have new steering wheels and shifters (both shifters feel very different from each other, and actually ARE different). They will be about as clean as they can be when I'm done with these.

I'm going to bump this topic, as I had centered the potentiometer, but it isn't strong enough to go all the way to the right or left. I found this out when I went to enter my name, and the damn thing wouldn't go past D (going to the left). So I adjusted it so it could go to A, and now I cannot get the damn thing to select the far right track! Is there a way to adjust this, or is this a sign that the potentiometer is dying? It's consistently crappy in this regard... not sure if the wrong one was installed or what?

EDIT: The potentiometer goes from all the way from 0 to max if I turn it by hand. Smooth motion and all. The only replacement one I can find is Happcontrols, and it won't let me order from them if I order under 25 dollars, which is lame.

you have to go in Test Mode and calibrate it. you've changed the range of motion by physically altering what the game knew as "center".

I can't remember the name of the menu though. :( been snowing too gd much lately, I would've checked on my machines for you.

the procedure should be as follows. unmount the steering pot, but leave it connected. go into the Volume Test (I think that's what it's called) menu and run the pot from 0 up to its max. do whatever the volume set thing is, then manually turn to what should be center, and mount the pot as close to that as you can. at least that's what I've done on other games in the past, never done it on Daytona.

if when you wipe the pot you see any irregularities in the flow of the volume, then the pot is probably bad. you also shouldn't be able to turn the volume adjustment beyond 360 degrees, if so, then it's broken anyway.

pots are kinda pricey, I don't see how it wouldn't be above $25. otherwise just buy 2.

The pot adjusts very smoothly... so I woulnd't say it's broken, per say. Just not broad enough motion to go as far as it needs. I'll go see if I can find this menu. I've already tried. There's a center, right, left adjustment bar I can do, but I think that's for force feedback, no?

Well, I've combed the game over and the manual, and I see nothing like what you describe. No volume adjust or anything else of that nature. This surprises me, as my Hydro Thunder has an adjustment screen similar to what you describe. Surely I must be missing it? Either that, or there just plain old isn't a menu for this.
