It has some scrapes and gouges, but would touch up paint just make this look tacky or worse?

Here are the pictures, hopefully you guys can tell me what I should do to fix this up.

As you can see in one of the pictures, I pulled back a carriage bolt, and there was no art work underneith it. There is also zero sticky or residue on the sides. So did this machine never see side art?

This picture is bad, but you can see the serial number 10127.

Mine didn't have sideart either. I'm pretty sure sideart came along in the later serial number red cabs, blue cabs and conversion kits for use by operators. I like the DK sideart, but since it never had it, I don't think I'll put it on. - Barry

Touch ups almost never work out right. I personally would leave it alone.. but then again I'm not a huge restoration guy. I think that's a decent original red cab -- leave it be. :) If you want to make it look factory new, you'd probably need to bondo/sand/repaint/the whole nine yards -- I don't think it'll be touchupable.

Someone asked me this to, the original instruction sheet is on the back of the backdoor.

That's about the way mine would look if I stripped off all the touchup paint that the previous owners put on.

One thing you definately should do is clean it.

If you decide to touch it up, I would make sure you get the paint color and gloss right. You won't be able to pull a code off the internet. You'll need to get a chip from your cab or bring in the speaker panel to get a proper match. It might take some back and forth with the paint people to get it right.

If you're looking for 100% perfection you probably have to bondo and paint the entire cab, which some people cringe at with these rarer cabinets.
