New to the hobby and these boards, but have read lots of great stuff here over the past month or so. My question/situation is this: I have a Defender cabinet that was used in a Relief Pitcher conversion. One side of the cab has RP side art, but BOTH sides clearly have the Defender artwork still underneath. Not sure about the front panel art. Front and sides have been painted black. What's the best process to attempt to strip the RP decal, paint and preserve the original artwork? Stripper? What brand/process? Is there a FAQ or other guide I should follow? Thanks in advance for replies.

For the adhesive vinyl sideart just pull it off or attempt to scrape it with a putty knife, something that won't dig into the wood. Then you can use citristrip in a couple of small areas to see how it reacts with the original paint. I've had luck with it only lifting the paint that you want to remove. let the citri strip sit for 10-15 minutes then either wipe it off or scrape it off with something that won't scratch the wood. After that, scrub it with a damp cloth to pick up the remnants of stripper and peeling paint. Be careful not to get the wood "wet" with water, if the wood has open spilts it will swell up. Be sure to use gloves with that stuff. It says it's safe and all that but it will still burn your ass.

Unless its something you have to do, don't do it. your $250 in parts to bring it back. Another $100-$150 if you need to repaint it.

you can buy a defnder for $400-$600.

now if you your going to jrok multigame it, thats a different story. your cabs already jamma...

+1 on the Jrok multi.
Hopefully James will make another run in the not too distant future.
