How easy is it to repair these? I want to replace the bad happ guns on my cab with some original konami guns. Do they use the same parts as Happ guns and if not are the parts available somewhere else? Is there a how-to guide available somewhere?

Just open them up and swap out the optical PCB. In most cases it tends to be a broken solder joint on the lens or a loose wire that makes these guns stop working.

Yeah, my experience with bad Lethal Enforcers guns is:

1) Make sure the lens is in the gun... it doesn't work without it. A suitable replacement is the lens from an NES Zapper.

2) Make sure the voltage to the guns is sufficient... I had one that was ~4.95V that only worked at the middle of the screen... bumped it up to 5.1V and it worked great.

3) The phototransistor can be bad... I was able to get replacements from Mouser or Digikey IIRC.

Light guns are pretty universal. They have their slight differences, usually the shell, but the internals are pretty standard.

A while ago I made a series of adapters for using different light guns on different systems (eg a Sammy rifle on a Big Buck, a HOTD on an Area 51, etc). I need to post the docs to that one of these days.

I have all the parts for Lethal guns NOS...from cable assemblies to lenses.
Not listed on the site but I do have them.

I'd be very interested in that documentation if you get around to it one of these days...
