How Rare is Pepper II ?

Easy enough to look at KLOV vaps. There are currently 16 klover's with dedicated Pepper II machines.
It is a great game.

I have all of the components to convert my Venture into either Pepper II or Mouse Trap (board, CP, bezel and marquee). I'm currently playing MT in it.

Does that count? :)

And I do know a couple of folks out my way who have dedicated PIIs.

Its not a common game as is case with most Exidy's games..they didn't make large production numbers on their games like Atari, Midway, Wiliams, Nintendo, or Stern....so its a nice find when you get one that is complete.

I have one I'm restoring right now in original cab...managed to grab new old stock parts over a 15 year period...rarely do you see parts come up..so I'd say its fairly rare...

Cabinet without board or marquee for sale in MD for $150

At 7:20 in that video, the player circles the magic box and the eyes don't leave (but one does disappear when it touches the center box!). The player also runs over the Zipper Ripper when he's the devil, but according the (arcade) manual, it's supposed to still be deadly (to the touch, I'm guessing).

i recently sold a complete machine, and 2nd one, only missing the cabinet, had everything else. Heaven and hell versions!

As he stated before, he's won't be restoring it to Pepper II
He has plans on using this rare Pepper II cab for a game that was never released called Teeter Torture.
Doesn't make sense to me. For a game that was never released, makes more sense to do a scratch build but hey, it's now unfortunately his cab to do what he wants with.
Yes I'm biased. Pepper II's are too rare and it's a fantastic game.

Congrats! Hey, I hear ya on the shipping, but I can't blame you at all. These things aren't getting easier to find. Good luck with the restore!

I've had mine for almost 15 years and have seen 3 or 4 people posting that they've had them since. The "under $1000" statement is... well... hopeful for someone looking to buy one. I paid a lot less 15 years ago, but shipped and ended up with an $800 game.
Since then, people have realized that they want them and that they aren't easy to find. I've been offered $3K and then told to "name my price" by another collector. I really like the game and it's the only game that I'm remotely good at, so I kept it. It's a standing offer, so when I'm ready to get rid of it, I'll see what he wants to pay or trade. I'd love to know the production number on this one...

And as I also stated before... Absolutely nothing left on it is Pepper II. It is an empty cabinet with SNK art, Swiss cheese panel and switching power supply. If you wanted to see it restored so badly you could have bought it yourself.

I agree desecrating a Pepper II would be very wrong. But that's not what's happening. I'm taking an already-gone cabinet and reviving lost history out of it. Your idea of a waste is my and many others' joy.

Teeter Torture will live on!
