I'm curious.. how much would an in shape Adam's Family and Star Trek:TNG pinball usually go for?

Not that I'd have any place to put the things, but the local arcade at the Jersey Shore got rid of the last games worth playing at said arcade, so now there is no reason to go anymore. Some Auctions I've seen price them at $5,000, basically a few months worth of salary..but wonder if they can be had in good condition for cheaper?

I don't think STTNG should be 5000$ unless it's just completely flawless...I know I'd balk at that.. I figured it's more around the 3000 range, but I may be wrong?

Boston Pinball's ebay tracker lists 2200$ as the median price, but it also hasn't been updated in almost a year now, and their "highest" price seen sold was 10,000$? Hope that sucker was NIB with all the mods and PDI glass on the side...cripes.

$2200 is still pricey, but far more affordable for a luxery item... I'd even take one at $1500 considering they are all used by now...

just something I was toying around with buying if I ever got the bank account to a place of financial security ;o)

are these units rather common?

The addams family was the highest selling pin of all time so its more or less common. Or it should be, problem is the collectors have horded them all so you dont see them for sale as much as the sales numbers would make you think. That is why they command the price.

I have never seen a star trek locally but I can usually see one on ebay and MRpinball classifieds.

just for comparison, what would a new one direct from manufacturer cost?

Maybe it'd be cheaper to hope the companies would re-manufacture 'em ;o)

That that company is long gone from the pinball world. Re-manufacture is not going to happen.

Stern makes new games for about 5-7k.

In my opinion the old williams games (about the time your looking) is better in every way than new.

I can't even get them to tell me if they're making repro ramps for my Space Shuttle after they said they were going to be available in october, and you're hoping they're going to remake entire machines?

Now that's optimism, LOL.
