How much should one pay for backbox and playfield glass?

How much is the going rate for used playfield and backbox glass? is there even a market for them?

Playfield glass is cheap. It's just tempered clear glass that can be bought new fairly easily.

Backglasses are usually reverse screen printed and can be fairly expensive to track down. Try to find a nice original KISS or Space Invaders backglass cheap! Sometime the backglass is half the value of the pinball. People can spend the rest of their lives trying to track one down. Pinballs without them aren't worth much...

At the recent York show, I got a piece of used playfield glass for $5 from TNT (thanks Todd!). I saw another vendor with a sign claiming a new playfield glass for only $25.

Unfortunately I dont live where any shows want to go :( so I'am I ok getting tempered glass from any glass shop? As long as it's tempered it's all good? Let me know, as a glass shop quoted me $53. That is the cheapest where I live, as I called all the glass shops and can you believe some shops wanted over $100 for the glass, no on-line shops mail/ship any glass, just pick-up only!

if you want to buy glass on line you can get it from pinball life, only catch is you have to buy two pieces of glass, with shippintg to ny it cost 90.00 last time i bought it,thats only 45.00 each.

Ya sometimes on that site is says "pick-up" only then other days it offers 2 glass purchase for delivery. How does it come shipped, and what do they wrap it in to prevent the glass from breaking during shipping?

Just order your glass locally. That is what I do. Order it tempered and delete the logo. Companies like to put an advertising logo and if you don't ask them to delete it it will be there, engraved in the glass.

The logo is usually near a corner and it is etched into the glass so it is not too visible, but it could block your line of sight if it ends up in a bad location. The logo is is usually about 2" square.

I think I pay about $50 for a sheet of glass for a pin, less for my vids.

Ya this local shop quoted me $53 if I picked it up, more if the glass guy delivers to my home. I'll have to ask about the logo thing as maybe if I dont want it on maybe price will drop more. Thanks

pinball life always has standard glass for shipping as long as you buy two,it comes in a special box,and it ships in the box in a special styrofoam frame,i dont think you could break it if you tried, even the butchers at UPS,the cost is cheap 69.00 + shipping
