OK, this seller is an idiot (see if you can spot any of the clues) but they have a game I want so I made an offer. They didn't get back to me so I guess it wasn't the "pretty penny" they were looking for (they seriously said in an email to me that they knew it was worth a pretty penny). I'm just curious what others think it is worth or would offer for it. See ad link below. I don't know why the bezel is missing in one of the photos.

Somewhere inbetween $250 and $500, I'd guess...?

Since he has "opened some serious whipass on this thing" I would imagine that would make the price go higher...plus it's not just a classic, it's a !!CLASSIC!Classic...

The Duct Tape is a nice touch though...

I'd offer him $300 and tell him last and final offer take it or leave it. It needs a new CPO, side art and a thorough cleaning. Oh, I almost forgot, you'll need to remove the manual volume control, and clean off the nasty duct tape residue.
What a jackass.

I bet that "duct tape" is hiding the fact that it needs the audio board recapped. Mine had a similar issue and someone stuffed a wadded up rag in the speaker. Apparently these get loud and "buzzy" when the caps go bad.

I bought 2 widebodies in similar shape about a month apart. Mine was $150, my brother's was $250. This was 3 years ago, when values were higher. Great game, but to me, it would be worth no more than $200 in that condition. I have seen them advertised at 4 bills and higher all the time, but I have seen them sell no higher than $300 ever. Every area is different, but in MN, any higher than $300 and it would sit on CL for a year or until the seller got sick of posting it. Like I said though, great game and it's my favorite Nintendo title. I restored mine and love having it. Honestly, I wouldn't sell mine for any price.

There was a guy on here (Mike in Indiana) that posted a completely renovated Mario Bros. for sale at $400 and it sat for a couple of months on CL. It was in perfect condition (similar to the one above).

This one, on the other hand, needs a serious cleaning in addition to a new CPO, new T-molding, probably new paint after taking off the duct tape, new caps on the monitor, and who knows what else. I believe that it's worth about $150, and that's what I offered. The "lots of TLC" part of the ad is just hysterical.

I sold my completely restored widebody to another KLOV'r for $350 without the monitor.
Even so, I'd say that one is worth $200 or less.

Mine had a brand new repro CPO, rebuilt nintendo sticks and the mikes arcade high score save and audio amp/video inverter.....

if I could find a nice Mario wb for $250 I'd buy it in a second I haven't seen any for that cheap

I decided to offer him $100 to let him know what a pretty penny is... If he accepts, then you must go get it for me, pay for it, restore it, and play it indefinitely. :D

I started from nothing but an empty cabinet with mine well almost was converted to a double dragon. I had to get the original Sanyo monitor plus a control panel which are next to impossible to find. That has both so your good to go there but keep in mind that the stuff like paint $20 to $30, New CPO $60, Side art $90 to $100 are also going to cost money. Plus in that picture it looks like the board might have sprite issues there's at least $80 to $100 for a new board set. Mario brothers is a great game but one hell of a money pit like most other arcade games. Oh and don't forget T-molding $15 and a cap kit $12 and maybe a new flyback for the monitor $50 and the $50 high score save kit before your done LOL. So all together there might be a total of $377 to $417 on top of the purchase price just to get it looking and working like a champ.

I have yet to do the High score save kit, Flyback and side art for my Mario and I got mine in a lot of 3 games that I paid $20 for total.

I restore the electronics only on my machines. The outside appearance is considered 'character'. LOL

I'm there!! I prefer original paint, even if it is scuffed.... I'll get a machine so it looks "good" then thats enough. I do like the CP's to look great though! While I may envy the machines that look new... I'm too cheap to invest the time/money to get them that way.

That is the plan for what I'd like to do with this game. We'll see if he thinks my offer is more reasonable now. Thanks.
