Just check out there as I am looking for a star wars cabinet and a guy has one for $1000. The cabinet is in far condition but need the front graphic replaced. Other than that the game plays fine. Does this seem like a reasonable price? Aything I should look out for?

If the monitor hasn't been rebuilt and upgraded you could be in for a lot of trouble down the line. I think this game is one that holds it's value pretty well, but if you've got to do a bunch of work to it, a G is waaaaay too high. I sold mine with rebuilt 6100 monitor, 8.9/10 cab and repro overlays for $800. Check to see if it has a WG 6100 or an Ampliphone monitor. Ampliphones are worth more.

Yeah, $1000 is high. Unless, of course, you're talking about the cockpit version. That's a lot rarer. But the upright is actually pretty common. See which monitor it has in it - a lot of Star Wars games turn up with the original Amplifone monitor replaced with a WG6100. The Amplifones are more desireable.

I absolutely hate these threads.
It's worth what you or anyone else is willing to pay end of story. Contrary to belief these are not investments and should not be treated as such.
Price always varies because of the current economy, location, supply and demand, over all condition, amplifone or wells, or ESB kitted or not.

People scoffed when I sold mine for $1200.00 with a completely rebuilt set of Amplifone boards and ESB kit. But yet people are willing to pay $300 for an ESB kit by itself and most standard SW's run ~$800 and now add $300. Hmmmmm. In the end it really doesn't matter what I sold it for. Anyone posting what they sold theirs for should be used purely as a baseline for others. Just sayin ....

You hate everything these days. I agree with you on this most of the time, but Star Wars machines are an exception to the rule. They DO seem to hold their value and people WILL pay top dollar and either ship or drive to pick them up if not local. I sold mine for $850 and the guy drove up from over 1000 miles away to get it. Spy paid a similar price and paid to have his shipped to the East coast from Fritz in Idaho. I see these machines come up on many people's want lists.

Lol - I have to disagree on SW holding value Phet. Two years ago a working upright would bring a grand with a WG in it. Add ESB kit and they jumped $300-$500 higher in value. SW's have fallen prey to the mass consensus. Today these things aren't worth shit according to people here. Ya know what I REALLY hate? I hate seeing my beloved games being worth less every day I own them because the community tries setting pricing standards. It's when I realized I'm a fool for thinking of these as an investment. In the end it's not about money though - it's about buying what you can afford and being happy. I couldn;t care less if my red DK is worth $50 .. I love it and that's all that matters ;)

Personally, I think the game is extremely overrated. Give me a Pole Position cockpit or a Tempest upright ANY day over a Star Wars in any form. The cab is cool, but the game is more repetitious than Fritz's days as a fluffer in the merchant marines.

Tempest rocks, pole posistion on the other hand is an aquired taste.

I have to agree that the game play of SW is very repetitive. I seem to recall the game was in development as something else until Atari got the license and made it into Star Wars. That said, it's still a game on my want list. I'd give up something like my Black Widow to get one.

I just sold my Star Wars upright for $1000. It had the Amp setup in it. The cab was perfect, no damage of any kind. The sideart was is in just under perfect condition. I would say overall it was in 9.5/10 condition.

Yeah, racing around a track is not repetitive.
Nor is shooting enemies in semi 3d screens.

In fact, I think SW is less repetitive because it has three different "scenes" that require different techniques to play them.

I bet you just suck at it Phet, admit it ! :D

Depends on who you sell it to. In the Arcade world, You get the guys that say $1000 is way to much. But they deal with arcades. In the Star Wars world, you will have collectors that will pay $2600 for em.

Been selling them for $1200 - $1400

It's not what people think they are worth, it's what someone is willing to pay.
