Ok was doing a monitor swap, 25" medium resolution for a 25" low resolution. Turned it one and there was massive spark of light and then my low resolution monitor now won't turn on.

Both should have AC coming to it correct?

Did the monitor you tried to use require an isolation transformer, and mabye your original one and cabinet did not?? Post the brands and models of your monitors plz.

well your pretty screwed I'd say.:D

seeing how you didn't give any real info.
i say take it all to the dump and get rid of it all so you wont be tempted any more.;)

but if you want help give us something to work with.
make and model of each car with pics of what you are trying to do.
and of what games your trying to change.

or you could call me you have my #:)

The game that had the medium resolution was NBA Showtime. The game that had the low resolution was Namco Final Lap 3. I don't know the make of the Namco, all I could find on it was Philips, so I know its a Philips. The NBA Showtime had a WG 7501 in it which still works.

I took the low res out of the Final Lap 3 and was putting it into the NBA Showtime so I could use my NBA Hangtime PCB in the Showtime Cabinet. Hangtime is a low res game where as Showtime can be both a low resolution AND medium resolution.

I just took the low resolution philips out and I can't see anything wrong with it but when I put it back into my Final Lap 3 it now does nothing.

Advice?

Well, Philips didn't make monitors.....but they did make tubes:D.

I think its a Wells Gardner, trying to figure out what chassis it is though. I do see a serial which is WG909905.

The stupid thing is I've been trying to get a working NBA Hangtime since February . . . I just want to play some old school arcade hoops . . .

well with out knowing both models then its gonna be real hard to tell you anything.

but if i had to guess you did not change the resolution of the game and it blew the synk oscillator on the monitor.

That I know I did! NBA Showtime has a low resolution setting and I made sure to change that dip switch. I'm think its a K7000 . . . trying to figure out how I can confirm that.

That is a K7000 and it needs an iso. The 7500 you pulled did not so you don't likely have an iso in the cab.

Look at the bottom of the K7000 chassis. Is the trace that runs along the edge of the board by the fuse lifted? This is what I usually see when someone runs a K7000 without an iso.

Haven't taken it that far apart yet . . . but from the sounds of it it sounds terminal . . .

not terminal at all.

i like fixing the K7000 send it to me.

get an iso and install it in the cab you want to put the K7000 in and you will be fine.

or bring it to the party on sat and i will fix it for you there.

Going to ask a really dump questions . . . what is an ISO and where do I install it?

It is an isolation transformer. You need to install it between the current monitor power connector in your cab and the monitor power connector on your chassis. Bob Roberts carries them. They are not very light so usually they are screwed into the bottom of the cab. Then you just run the wires and you are good to go.

By the way, many times with these chassis the only things I have had to do is replace burned traces and replace the voltage regulator.

it is a 1 to 1 transformer for the 120v line to the monitor.
you can install it anywhere in the cab you like.

if you need one i have a couple used ones around here i can bring one to the party for you. bring the monitor with you and we will test the tube and all at the party.

it has been the opposite for me.

i have seen the diodes in the power supply smoke and that is usually it.

Really? I have seen two blown diodes on one particular board but the rest all had burned traces and most of those had blown VRs. I have repaired around a dozen of these. All were installed as replacements for U2000/U5000 monitors.

I have repaired two 5515's that were used to replace 7500's. Both of those had all four diodes damaged.
