how many time's have you watched "tron"

I've seen TRON just once. I watched it with my 8 year old son and 7 year old daughter this past summer. It was the first time for all of us, and we all enjoyed it. We're looking forward to the sequel now!!!

I have TRIED to watch it 4 times and havent made it to the end yet...
Terribly boring and overated film IMO

I saw it in the theaters at least twice. Bought the first VHS tape when it came out and wore it out. Bought a second tape (before I had a DVD player). I am pretty sure I still have that one around somewhere. Never bought the DVD though.

I remember sitting around drinking beer at CGDC in the late '80 with a bunch of the CGI animators from Gray (or was it Grey?). They were the guys that did the big sailship animation and some other pieces. They had some great stories about building that stuff. It was pretty amazing. The sailship almost never came about, according to one of them. They were way behind schedule and it wasn't looking right, so they upped the resolution so that it was taking 45 minutes per frame to spit out of their Cray, and it still didn't look right, so they uppped the resolution again. Finally, one of them said to lower the resolution way down so they could at least get the whole shot out to Disney so they could beg for more time. So they dropped the resolution to 300 DPI and it looked great. The Cray could puke out 3 frames a minute at that resolution and they ran the whole sequence in a couple of days and that was went into the film. Of course they didn't mention it to all the other teams that were having the same problem.......

I am looking forward to December. If for no other reason than to see where CGI has come.

I've watched it many times. I have the DVD which has the extras on it that tell how they did some of those special effects; which were high-tech back then.

My favorite parts of the movie is when they show Flynn's arcade...

While we're on the subject....why the hell is it so hard to find a copy?? I refuse to pay the thirty and forty dollars they are asking online, and no one carries it in stores. I work for best buy and I've checked the inventory of nearly every store in the company and no one has it...I'm assuming maybe they are holding out and planning on releasing a special edition, but I cant find anything online to back that up... Even netflix doesnt have it!

Amazon has a listing for it in blu-ray, but no release date.

As for the prices, thats what happnes when dvds go out of print.. When they reissue them, prices for the old ones will drop like a rock.

Here is an example.. I bought and sold several james bond box sets. They kept re-releasing them. I would buy them when they first came out for like $40 a box of movies and when they were OOP, they would jump to $150-$200.

Probably should sell mine tron as I plan to buy the blu-ray.

I saw it originally in the movie theater(they also had a TRON arcade game on site) back in the day. Bought it on LaserDisc when it was originally released and watched it a lot over the years, and I usually have it playing on the TV if I am working on games in our family room/gameroom as background ambiance. Got the deluxe widescreen laserDisc collectors box set off of eBay last year and watched it once. I'll probably rewatch it as a refresher early December.

ArcadeMaze!

i got a brand new one for $10 on ebay I htink

I watched it when I was a kid and made it all the way through, thought I enjoyed the movie. Borrowed the DVD from my buddy and I couldn't finish it....too much.

I would consider seeing this new one just because I'd like Olivia Wilde to sit on my face.

i've watched it quite a few times. i have the two disc special edition. bought it last year from sams or costco for around 10-15 bucks. check there. i can't remember how long ago i saw it at best buy, but i know it's usually in the disney section.

Quite a few- I'm actually pretty PO'ed though because we pretty much saw EVERY Disney movie at the drive in, but somehow we never got to check this one out. I can only imagine how the light cycle scene looked against the dark sky (there goes my tohret's fit again.. grumble grumble )

Too many times to count. My son and I both love the movie. We're redoing our game room in a Tron theme too.

Looking fwd for the new movie. Will probably be there on opening night.
