Just curious, I just finished waxing my pin, and it's my first pin that I have ever owned, so wondering when I should plan on doing it again?

Does something about this post seem vaguely disturbing to anyone else? Especially in light of the posters user name?

just got my first pin...was wondering the same thing....I was thinking maybe after 75 plays...but not sure...so bump...

Good post! thanks for the reminder. I have been collecting pins now for over 1 year and still need to pick up some good wax! ;)

There's several factors actually:
How dusty does your area get that the pin resides in
Type of wax used
How often does it get played
Clear coated PF or not

Not all waxes are equal. If poor wax is used then you need to wax more often. Keep in mind a good habit to get into is changing out the balls often as well. Poor low grade wax and damaged balls equals excessive play field wear.

Too each their own honestly. I don't believe there is a MUST wax so often rule. However once a month for home use is typically more than adequate.

I usually re-wax after about 250-300 plays (thats really a swag). That's when the playfield starts looking dirty, still has wax covering it though. Right after a shop it gets dirty after the 1st 100 plays or so since the new rubber seems to wear quicker. So after new rubbers after the first 100 plays, 2nd time after about 250 total, then every 250 thereafter. Use a good carnuba hard wax like mothers, I usually do 2-3 coats.
Between a thorough cleaning and waxing I usually do a quick wipedown of the playfield with a towel dampend with a little novus 1, but I'm open to suggestions for any better ideas.

Jesus... I need to get on the ball. I figured once every 6 months or so would work. Hell, I put 100 plays on Xenon in a couple days when I first got it up and running.

When I had pinballs on location, I would wax it every week or 2 depending on how full the cashbox was. Lately I haven't waxed a playfield in the longest time. I'm now working on Novus 2 ing my High Speed for the first time in years. I don't see it necessary to wax as much as most seem to think they need to. Wax when your game starts to feel sluggish and not have the drive it used to.

About once every 2-3 weeks here. I can tell when they need it, certain shots just stop hitting right because of the speed loss. I notice it mostly with the backhand shots.

For all you crazy once a month waxers out there, do you wax EVERYTHING or just the easy to reach spots? I mean, sure, right down the middle is easy to wax but what do you do around the bumpers and ramps? Do you actually go and remove the ramps to get up under there?

I'm talking about pinball still, btw...

On Firepower and Truckstop it's a full playfield waxing without parts removal. Both have pretty open playfields so it's really easy and quick.
