....do you own not because it was one you really wanted, but simply because you got it for a great price?
And how many of those "cheap" games you got you ended up really liking or loving?

I have to admit several of mine are like that. My Asteroids cocktail and DK cabaret were both bought after I already had working uprights, but the prices were good on them. Others that come to mind are my Konami Beat the Champ (package deal with Cruis'n USA both for $100) and Blasteroids ($50 garage sale find).

One

Nfl Hard Yardage

I bought it for the 4 player cabinet. Guy told me the monitor worked but the game didn't.

When it was plugged in all it brought up was a green screen.

When I get it home I started to play with it and found out that there was not enough voltage going to the game. I swapped the PS did a few adjustments on the monitor and now the game works.

Buttons were not registering the right inputs. got most of them working but the second button on player three and four still do not work. but the game can be played with out them lol.

Hmmm... My Vs. SMB was a great price, my Championship Sprint and Rampage because of the smoking deal... (And I forgot how cool they both were, I love them) The Space Invaders I got from Brian...

The only games I've sought after was the Tron and Joust. And now the hunt is on for Space Wars. But yeah, I can't pass up a good deal. I just can't.

Since starting out this past March, I have only bought 3 of the 18 that I have so far because I really wanted to have them. The rest were bought because they were good deals. I don't think I would have 5 pac mans under normal circumstances. :)

Funny how games sometimes seek you out. Satans Hollow started that "category" for me personally, it was a good game and the price was right. That lead the way to a somewhat cheap Tron and a really cheap Space Zap, along with another one I'm getting.

Most everything else I have was sought after in one form or another.

Asteroids deluxe is now the only game that I "lucked out on" left. The rest were sought out with intent.

Too many. Star Trek, Donkey Kong Cocktail, The Simpsons, Pac Man #2, Popeye, and probably a couple others.

I got all my games because they were cheap and local. I wasn't looking for any of them in particular.

Frogger - $20 at a garage sale
Swimmer - $100 at CL
Time Soldiers - $60 at CL
Assault - $75 at CL
Omega Race Cockpit - FREE at CL

I look out for a specific game and hold out until I get it. I don't get caught up in good deals for stuff I don't want. I look at my collection and feel that I don't have any duds (sure, that's a subjective thing!).

The one exception was my first game ... Dig Dug. I was at my second auction in '97 and was frustrated that I didn't get anything from the first one so I made sure I came home with *something*. That's the one game I've been willing to part with but my wife loves it so its not going anywhere.

I would say Sky Target and Mortal Kombat 4. I wanted all of my other games and actively sought them, out these I just kind of came across. The Sky Target I thought was cool since it was so big and seemed like it would be a great experience, the MK4 I came across at an unbelievable price.

Satan's Hollow - I have a horror-themed house, and although I had never played the game at the time, I pounced when a cheap fixer-upper popped up locally on Craigslist. I'm glad I did, because the game kicks ass.

Star Wars Trilogy- a local arcade was selling off some of their inventory, so I got a pretty good deal on it. The game is a gas, and it gets the most play of all of my games when I have guests at the house.

Holosseum- Say what you will, but $50 is a great deal for a hologram game. I'm more of a Time Traveler guy myself, but this one's fun to play after you've knocked back a few drinks.

None. I only buy games I'm interested in. I know that cheap games I don't want just end up taking up valuable space.

Well...now that I think of it. One game is (temporarily) in my collection. War Gods is only there because it was a package deal. I had to take it in order to get the Punch-Out!!

Two maybe-

Challenger- cheap, maybe $40. It is pretty fun.

Spectar- $5 at auction. I've sold it since, but it is a simple, FUN, fast-paced game.

Just one. I have a non-working but complete Time Crisis sitting in the garage that I have little interest in. It was free, so I took it. I'll try to get it working after I finish my other projects, but even then it'll stay out in the garage.. it's cosmetically a little rough, the cab is huge, and doesn't really 'go' with the early 80's classics in my game room.

none, anymore. i stopped the impulse buys and just now try to chip away at the list of stuff in my mind i want in my gameroom.

I'd say quite a few. Most were bought because they were cheap and I could flip them when I got bored of them. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten bored as much as the bottom has fallen out of the market for anything but Pac, Ms Pac and Galaga.

Two right now, though there have been about four altogether. All have been price motivated.

I'm not really into fighting games, but I bought a Soul Calibur, because it was totally working in a clean 25" JAMMA cab.

I got a Neo Mini very cheap as part of small group of games I got. My buddy originally wanted it for his apartment, but his skank put the kabosh on that idea. I love the way it looked and intended to restore it, but it just kept getting bumped by other projects. I'm giving it away, new owner is coming for it tonight.

I had a near perfect Virtua Fighter given to me, gave it away, and now have it offered to come back free again, but non-working. My wife liked it because the white and chrome stuck out amongst all the other games.

I recently got a non-working Stern Moon War from another KLOV'r for a great price. I didn't know what the game was, but wanted a Stern cab to be a "do-it-all" to swap in various vertical Stern games... It ended up being so pristine and unusual that I got it working and kept as-is even though the gameplay doesn't totally grab me.
