I thinks its a neat game personally.. And I don't see too much about it amongst KLOVers..
How many of you guys played the game and like the game or own/owned it?
Discuss.

It's fully emulated in MAME and is the only way I've ever played it. I love the cabinet design. The game play is cool enough but the price it commands .... well it's not THAT cool. My .02

Yeah true it probably got a nice heavy price tag on it. :(

Maybe restoring one would be fun.

It was my very very first game, bought it from an arcade in 1987 for $275 + $75 shipping. I still am proud to own it.

It's a great game that is really not the same on mame. The Hall Effect Joystick is cool. The placement of the buttons is interesting when you need to hold down the shoot and 1p and 2p buttons at the same time as you enter the transporter.

I also like that there are approx 100 different sub-levels that all have interesting tricks and strategies. The only one I hate is that damn big brother head spitting out spikes. It's very hard and I usually lose at least one life at the higher levels (say, 20+).

If you get a chance to play one, jump at it.

Saw TWO of them in the UK couple of weeks ago but neither was playable regretfully.

At least one owner said it's a brilliant and much underrated game.
The cabinet shape is fabulous.

I never played it in the arcades. Only found it as a collector. It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but I really like the game play, one of my all time favorites. So much so that I have multiples...

Another poster was accurate, MAME does not do it justice.

I plan to have one for sale as soon as the snow melts in Chicago and I can dig it out of my garage to take a good set of pics.

It's a pretty rare game but oddly enough my local arcade had it for a while, and I played the hell out of it. It was a relatively small arcade but it had quite a few rare games come through, Us VS Them for example.

I owned serial number UR00035 for a while after buying it at the Kansas City Missouri Auction years ago. Fun to play and certainly important as the first game to use shaded polygons.

I sold mine at the peak of arcade prices and while I miss it, the funds from that sale enabled me to buy a lot more games.

It's a pretty good game and I like playing it. Played it bitd and currently own two. One is a project and the other I restored but is now not working due to power supply issue. Damn thing had some fire on it so time for the switcher conversion. :p

oh man your selling it in chicago! don't tell me that I really want one bad. :D
mame (stinks) by my standards. (no offense to you mamers! :() You can't play a lot of good games on it... with out the game feeling like its missing a part of it.

But any ways.. make sure you post up those pictures! I'm dying to see some more! :)

How come a lot of you people have seen/own this game in pairs!?

Well as a rule,KLOVers tend to hoard things, whether it's parts or even games because you never know when you're going to need an extra of something. And some parts and games are hard to come by,so when you can get them, even if you have a few already, you usually do.

Probably because it's a cool game. :) Although I don't have 2 of them. The working title for it was "Ice Castles".

It's a deep game, and to really enjoy it you need to get into it and amass some skills, and progress through the levels, earning your way as you go. Using a hall effect with this game is key, as slight, subtle movements are often necessary. The people I've shown it to like it, but it's definitely not one of the easier titles in my arcade.

As mentioned, it was a technological milestone piece graphically and the first game to use selectable camera angles. Atari held 3 patents on the technology involved in I, Robot. It had the first large-scale custom ICs. Dave Theurer (Tempest & Missile Command creator) was the project leader, and Breighton 'Rusty' Dawe (Paperboy & Cloak & Dagger creator) also contributed to its development of it before leaving the team to go off and start another project.

For those that have the game and don't know, on level 1, when entering the transporter, you can warp all the way to Level 10 if you hold down both Start buttons when entering. If you don't hold the buttons down, you'll just be able to select from levels 2-5 to warp up to.
