How many games have you had delivered to your door for gas/trade/beer?

Sorry, slow day at work and I felt like starting a random topic.

I often hesitate asking a seller if he/she can deliver, especially if it's long distance. I just think if I was in their shoes, I'd give the responsibility of transport to the buyer. Part of the reason is it's not easy for me to haul games with my SUV. I know for guys with trucks it's not too big of a deal depending on the game. Most of the time, they say pick-up only or they say they'll meet me halfway.

There is a game about 4 hours roundtrip from me that I remembered playing a lot as a kid. To be honest, it may have been one of the first arcade games I ever played. Well, I made an offer to the seller and he said he is more than willing to deliver the game to me for the cost of gas. Again, he has to drive almost 300 miles roundtrip the day before Thanksgiving. Though, he did say he needs space and wants cash for Black Friday. Very nice guy. :)

So here's my short list of games (current and past) that have been delivered to me:
DK
Popeye (Thanks Slackmoe!)
SFII (Thanks Prairied1ll0!)
New game coming Wednesday

So have any of you had any luck getting a game(s) delivered to your door for gas/trade/beer?

I won't deliver unless either I get a really good price for a game or they pay my gas... I just traded a machine for a Wii to a dude in San Jose who paid for my gas, I didnt mind it in the long run because I was able to go to Dave and Busters after...

I wouldn't ask anyone to deliver anything for free. Gas is the least I would offer. Usually when something gets delivered to my house, there is a trade involved, or money is added for doing the favor.

Yeah, good point. I guess I worded it wrong. Those games that were delivered for "free" there was some type of trade and/or gas involved.

For DK, it was a barter and he took away a load of items from me including a bass amp, guitar pedals, moped, etc.
For Popeye, Andrew is about 20 mins away from me and he got my minty Vs. cab for delivering it with some cash on top.
For SFII, I threw in a working 25" monitor.
For this guy coming from 2 hours away, I'm paying $80 on top of his asking price for his gas.

So if I could reword the thread title, it would be "How many games have you had delivered to your door for gas/trade/beer?"

I'm not that much of a cheap KLOVer. I'm Asian, but not that kind of Asian. :)

I've never had a game delivered to me but have delivered games. I tend to charge about $50 if I deliver.

I just traded my Gorgar pinball for Gauntlet Dark Legacy, 2 projects cabs and 3 boxes full of parts and the guy drove over 2 hrs and delivered everything and unloaded it,so that was a plus part of the trade

Classic.

Sooo, what did you get? Is it that elusive Champ Sprint?

Yeah, I don't know why I'm even keeping it a secret. I got caught up in the 'ol KLOV "I got a new game, but don't want to reveal it now because I think it's cool to keep everyone in suspense" mindset. I'm guessing it's a game most guys in here could care less about. Here she is:

Like I said, this came out in '87 I believe. I distinctly remember playing this for the first time with my older bro at around '88-'89 (I was 5-6 years old) I want to say. It was at our local candy shop/diner. A lot of good memories. IMO, one of the best co-op side scrolling beatemups ever. :)

Most of the people who sell games on CL in Orange County seem to have trucks, and are happy to deliever for $$ or beer, whichever is colder.

I had to deliver two in the past two years - it was the only way I could get rid of them.

I wouldn't do it now though. Not worth the trouble for what people are willing to pay for the average game.

Nice Double Dragon you got there(or will be getting) Jess! I should have guessed it by your avatar but I thought it might have been Champ Sprint too.

My first and only game delivered would be my original Galaga. Had it shipped from So Cal. Now that I have a truck, I'd rather pick games up. Sucks though when I have to unload by myself. I'm still hurting from moving my newly acquired Whirlwind.

Yeah - no one's shelling out any money for these things right now around here.

I need mine delivered, though. So, if I bought a game for a good price locally, and they could deliver, I'd offer `em plenty of money to do it.

Thanks Steve! Congrats on the Whirlwind!

Yes, the CS is elusive as Jow said. That was the other game I remember playing a lot with my bro. Actually, I think it sat right next to DD in the candy shop. I missed out on Jow's CS when he sold it because I was in the process of another deal at the time. He gave a slamming deal. Then the one that popped up recently was not working and I didn't want to drive to Hollister to pick it up only to find out it would be a money pit once I got it home. Someday, my friend. Someday.

I'm guessing your bad back is the reason you haven't dropped off your CS at my place yet? :D

I've only asked for one game to be delivered. But it was from a buddy of mine, and he has a lift gate on his truck and an appliance dolly. It was my Neo Geo 6 slot. I do own a truck, and have used it to move almost all of my games. But because of the size of the machine, and the fact I didn't have anyone to help me that day. He only lives about 10 minutes away, anyhow.

One time I had a single slot conversion MVS listed for $200 and the guy offered me $300 to deliver. It was about a half hour drive one way, so only cost about $30 in gas... hells yeah I did it.

Haahaa You won't want it anymore when you realize how heavy system 2 cabs are!

I got a machine in money and trade and a fellow KLOVer went out there and worked on the guys machine for me (part of the trade) picked a dead Operation Thunderbolt. He took it home tried to get it working for me. Then picked up for me another OT and consolidated the best parts of both into one machine. He then delivered it to me with an empty Dynamo HS5 from Sac to San Jose for basically parts in trade.

After that... Friends For Life.
Sam Barnes is a great great guy. (aok4life)

It's also why I don't mind delivering a game to someone also if I'm getting a fair price. If they try to cheap me out, I'm like... no way.

I've never had a game delivered (have had some shipped)
I usually try to buy them close enough to pick up.

I've delivered 2 or 3 games for either cheap/free but nothing more than 10 miles away.

Every time I sell a game I always offer to deliver it because I know everyone doesn't have a truck or any other way to come pick it up. Plus I figure if I offer in the add (CL or whatever) that that might be an incentive to the potential buyer. I'll deliver locally (within about 10 miles or if I'm going to be in the general area) for free but typically I charge .55 cents per mile for every mile over that. Also, if it's a new collector (newbie) I like to be there and set it up for them so I can show them proper care and other important things about the games in general. Little things like, "never ever open the back and stick your hand in here" and "don't leave it on unattended"

I have only had one game delivered and that was my first Galaga. It was maybe the second game I ever had, and since it was over 10 years ago and I overpaid I didn't feel bad. I sold it quickly becuase it had monitor issues and bought a much better one which I still have.

I don't deliver games except one time which was an exception because the guy lived by where I was visiting what's left of my family in VA plus he paid me to deliver it.
