With MAWS still dead from it's attack, I can't check there.

I was looking at the version they put on the 60-in-1, and noticed that the boardset I have here plays a bit different. For one thing, my ship and the mothership look different. And another thing, my ship is ABOVE the blocks they are trying to steal, while the 60n1 has the ship BELOW the blocks. Oh, and the 60 has the blocks as silver/blue bricks while mine is more like gold ovals....

There are The End (Konami) The End (Stern) and one bootleg called omega.

The Stern rom version is the only one I ever saw in a real machine and both boards I owned had that rom version. However Mame puts the Konami version as the "Original" version and thus the 60-1 people well known for their love of quality used that instead of the one every played.

And really, why the heck can't even one of those POS bootleg chinese factories put together a multiboard that doesn't mix control types. How hard would that be?

From Caesar Logiqx :

"* In the Konami version, the bases are above you and you can use them as cover, but they block out a lot of your potential shooting area.

* In the Stern version, the bases are below you, which gives you a free path to shoot everything in sight, but also means that you have nowhere to hide."
