I got one for free, and am working on getting a second from the same operator for maybe 300. I just searched here for Cruis'n USA and there was an old post about a set of 4 for sale on Ebay, years ago. Can you link that many together? If so, how, how much, and is it easy? If you can, I just gotta get more and do it!!!!!!!!

That would be cool. Do you know how to do it? There looks to be a big grey cable, kinda like an old style printer cable laying in the bottom of the cabinet. It looks like there are two plug places for it, right beside each other. Would this cable run to the second one, and another cable run back? does anybody know exactly how you do it? Thanks

I'm pretty sure it's just 2.. you have to have the SAME version of the software. The early release of the software I believe won't allow linking, but I could be wrong. I believe the cable to link them needs to be a null modem cable.

I have 2 Cruis'ns linked right now and yeah i believe 2 is all you can have. There is a dip switch on the PCB which one game should be set to master and the other game should be set to slave. You then connect the cable that looks like an old parallel printer cable from the master game to the other one. Only one cable is needed but there are 2 ports the cable can be plugged into for some reason... which is why some people think you can hook up 4 machines together.

Yeah, 2 player is the limit on USA... World was a max of 4 player I think (which I find funny since both USA and World use the same hardware and are only a ROM swap and I would assume if someone wanted to mod the USA roms they might be able to squeak out a 4 player option)... and Exotica I think it was possible to do 8 player based on what the manual says.

I want to say the reason they have two plugs is that one is the "master" plug in while the other is the "slave" plug in... but I'm not 100% as it's been a while since I attempted to link two USAs.

I did check my PDF manual of USA for clues, but it's the same "preliminary" manual that's on the net. I do have a physical USA manual that I'm pretty sure explained the 2 player hookup, but that's lost in storage at the moment as we're trying to sell our house.

As for Exotica (not related to your post I know... whish I could have seen an 8 player setup growing up)...
"Cruis'n Exotica Manual...

crusin usa link manual

Well shit, I have the CruisnUSALinkingKit.pdf file on my computer. However, it is 720KB Bigger then I can upload on here. Give me your e-mail and I will send it to you.

USA and World PCBs are not the same. You can't just do a ROM swap. You have to do a full board swap.

You're correct now that I think about it. I know the driver boards are different, but a ROM swap on those can get the feedback working for either USA or World. I can't picture my USA boards at the moment, but I think I was picturing a different board set in my head when I wrote that. oops. :)

Does anyone have the info on the link cable. I saw a post about a null modem cable. Hummmm, not sure how to find it or what it is. Can I splice two printer cables together so I have the correct ends on them?
