How many Atari games allowed you to select levels or bonuses to start? LAME!

Wait, didn't paperboy split up the high scores depending on which street you play?

Yes. It even sums your scores from all three modes for a given set of initials and calculates a 'Paperboy of the week' which is shown in the newspaper during attract mode.

I agree that for Paperboy, it is more like 3 games in one than skipping levels.

Some others.....Toobin, Stun Runner, Dragon Spirit,720 and Apb.....I like the level select; it seperates the men from the boys....My only problem is take Indy for instance. I wish their were different high score tables for each difficulty instead of one.

Atari's Blasteroids allows you to skip levels in return for bonuses.

For non-Atari games, Joust 2 will allow you to skip levels in return for bonus points. I only wish Discs of Tron would let you do that.. the first 10-15 levels are SO BORING.

That is the incentive to start at higher levels. They give you a score advantage and make your game shorter, because you start at high levels. :(

I would not put Indiana Jones and Paper boy in this category. You are not skipping levels. You are playing a totally different game. On Paper Boy, you only get 7 days no matter which street you start on. Similar with Indiana Jones.

Road Blasters has the option to skip levels (I don't think there is a bonus, though)

Klax allows you to skip levels and warp ahead.

I think you might be mistaken with Indy... not 100% sure though. I know that when you start on EASY on Indy, it says Level 1. When you start on medium, it says level 5. I ASSUMED that starting Indy on Easy then getting to level 5, it would be the same level as if you started on Medium. I am not 100% sure though.

Doesn't one of the dip switches turn off the select option for Millipede or does it just to the 30K jump? I personally have never tried it.

I think it does but I set mine to TG settings and that adds the 30k point jump.

Toobin' also ruined the game by letting you get 600,000 point bonuses by taking the warps. I can get 1.2 million points in 2 minutes. LAME.

If you want to get higher scores, just relax. It's like in baseball,if you're trying to hit a HR,you'll have a hard time doing so.Just don't worry about it.Just stay loose and have fun with it,then you'll find that groove and you'll be owning the high score in no time.

There's only 4 levels no matter which difficulty you choose. You get 4 of the ones where you rescue the children, 4 mine carts, and 3 picking up the Sankara Stones. You get 1 of each per level, until the 4th mine cart. Instead of going to the stone level, you go to the rope bridge and face Mola Ram. After that, you just pick up golden statues on a huge level similiar to the first board (with all the ladders and chutes).

If you get really good at most of these games you can end up with more points and free men if you play through from the beginning.

On Return of the Jedi I chose to play the first five levels instead of just getting the bonus 600k. This way I end up at the same point in the game with 7 more men and about 100k more popints.
