how many arcade game POSERS do you know??

My hairdresser across the street just renewed her request for a cocktail pacman or ms pacman for her salon. She said money is not a problem if I find one...hmmmm....

I've had one friend/neighbor actually by my old 60-in-1 coktail I had. I didn't plan on selling it, but he openly offered an amount(more than what I had into it), I hesitated for a few seconds telling him I wasn't planning on selling it, then he upped his offer another $100. Without hesitating, I shook his hand and said we have a deal. All because his wife was hypnotized playing Galaga on it. If you can get the wife to like, doesn't matter what it costs :)

And I have made a great friendship when I got rid of my old Omega Race cockpit. Worked out a deal in trade, it helped me out and him out, so well worth it to me.

As for the "posers", I've had a few people at work ask the inevitable "Can you find me _____ game? If so, I'll take it right now!" In my spare time, did some searching, found said games, and they always backed out. One guy I even lined him up on two great deals for pinball machines, talked with him, he said make the arrangements, and then fell through after I stuck my neck out setting up the deal. And then had the balls to ask if I could come take a look at his pin, because something wasn't working right. Needless to say, I tried to help him out and was hung out to dry twice, pin repair from me is NOT in his future, lol.

Anymore, when someone asks about getting/finding a game that's not really into the idea of collecting, I tell them all of the cons that come with it. This way, they stop bugging me, and I don't spend time chasing down machines only to be left holding the bag. Unless they offer to put cash in my hand before I start, I won't even think twice about it. Now if it's for a KLOVer or someone in the collecting community, that's a different story. Others have helped me, I will gladly return the favor and help them.

Well, I've had a few somewhat posery situations. The first is a cab that was given to me. A very nice guy I knew (who would probably be considered a friend), said he loved UN Squadron. Fast forward about 200 bucks of trading and ebaying later, and I have basically built a dedicated UN Squadron for the guy built out of the cab. I price the guy the game for 350. Considering the work and the condition its in, I figure its a deal. No sale as of yet. In the guys defense, he doesn't make that much in his job, and it was the holidays, so he may come through eventually.
The second was a best friend that I priced a mostly restored Galaga to for 700. I know, its a little high for a Galaga, but this was post restored, played perfect. I think I had about 3-4 hundred in parts/repairs and restoration parts. If I hadn't gotten the game so cheap at an auction, it would have been more than 700. As of yet, no money. And the guy absolutely loves the game.
And lastly, I suppose that I am a bit of the posery variety. I have tried to purchase a few pieces from various friends in the collector ring. But since we are all collectors, I have seldom been able to make a purchase. Either we can't come to terms or don't agree on the value of the others pieces, so we never end up making a deal.

I wish I had a friend like you near me.

When I hear that, I either reply "Well, I don't have a parent-child relationship with my wife" or " I can't believe your wife won't let you".

I have the opposite "problem". My wife is hounding me to buy her a Ms. Pacman and/or Galaga cocktail; I'm holding out for a Jamma cocktail that I can stick a 60-in-1 in to save some space.
