How many 19" monitors can a switching power supply handle? My Ninja Warriors cab with three 13" monitors powered by a single switching power supply has got me thinking about this. And what size monitors does the 6-player X-Men cab use?

The switcher doesnt run the monitors, 120vac (usually) from an isolation transformer (usually)

You may have 3 iso's, you'll have to check

Yes it has 3 isos, but aren't the isos getting power from the switcher? Maybe I should be asking how many isos can a single switcher handle?

the iso transformer is just that, a simple transformer with 120vac input and 120vac output... look up how transformers work and you'll see why its isolated... they could also output other voltages (of ac) but if you have a switcher you don't need those in most cases

the switcher runs directly off 120vac to produce your dc voltages... it could be wired from the output of an isolation transformer but there's no benefit and i wouldn't recommend it

so your incoming 120vac is split (after a switch or 2 and a line filter) between 3 isolation transfomers and the switching power supply... and each outputs voltage to drive monitor, monitor, monitor, and pcb, respectively
