What is really incredible is how Limited versions change from Japan and the rest of the world, not just as packaging but also as items included..(not to mentiion the price..)

That is how it has always been though. Japs make the games, get them first, and get the far superior CE/LE stuff.

But then again the Japs are more die hard about gaming. They support the shit out of their industry, probably borderlines on being a national pride thing (I mean look at XBox sales numbers over there... they don't wanna buy no American shit).

Games, Movies and Music is insanely expensive in Japan. The Japanese economy is rigged for 100% employment and there are tons of middlemen. DVD's cost something like 30-$40 and CD's still sell in the $25ish range.

For instance, when the Sega Ages collection were released for the PS2, they were $20 per game. The US edition had all 12 games on one disc and wound up in the $15 bin.

In order to compete with potential imports from other parts of the world, Japanese editions of media come with lots of extras and primo packaging. Japanese consumers tend to have a super collector mentallity and they eat it up.
