A Duck Hunt came up semi-local... about a 3 hour drive. I inquired figuring if it was dirt cheap it might be a worthy buy. I mean I still haven't gotten a true shooter yet (T2 doesn't count... the guns are basically joysticks)... so I shoot him out an email asking for a price.

Here is his reply:

I know a fully restored machine goes for about $1500-2000 but I don't want that much there a few dings on the cabinet so I'm looking about $800-900.

Uh...

...hahahaha...

That's about all I can muster. Dude is smokin' some SERIOUSLY good stuff there. Oh how I wish games were going for that kind of dough... shit, I'd have $25,000 to $30,000 worth of machines sitting in the garage...

Light guns for MAME Frizzy? Just sayin brutha - it's cheap and there's some really good shooters available including your beloved Duck Hunt..

Don't feel bad. Uneducated people always want too much for their junk. I found a guy with a Ninty Vs. unisystem. I was interested until he said he wanted $750

He probably just hit the last zero as a mistake/typo. $75 is about right, as long as it's in good shape and running. ;)

Waiting for a completed Ultimarc solution. No time to make my own... once Andy has a fully completed version available I am all over it.

If he said $100 I'd go get it. If he said $200 I'd try to talk him down. It's not in great shape from the photos. Restored? Maybe $250-$300 if you really want it... I don't want a restored one. I want a cheap-ass but working one.

:)

I would have just kept the SW CP. :(

The monitor in a Duck Hunt is worth more than the game IMO.

.

This is true. Great game, but I would say that Nintendo cabinet with Vs. Duck Hunt is probably worth about 200-250 KLOV price (The monitor $100, gun kit $50, and pcb $50 are worth about that much alone). That's assuming the cabinet is in great condition.

id lay out the truth, offer like 150.. let him be pissed, play the waiting game.. and in 6 mos when he still has it youll have a good chance of picking it up!

Ditto.

Let him know you're interested if he ever decides to drop the price. Maybe even check back with him in a month or so. I got my Tron that way, and for $100 less than I was willing to pay. :D
