I want to begin the search for a DOT. from all the threads I am guessing it will take a very long time...or be very expensive. What can I expect to pay for either version of this machine? Are they really that hard to find? I want to start gathering money and possibly sell my low serial # red dk to come up with some of the cash to prepare for when I find one.

bottom line is money talks. If you've got an enticing amount of money to offer almost any game is easy to find. Also expect that you may have to ship the game. For an upright expect around $500 to ship. For an EDOT expect around $700.

I would say expect to pay $1000-1400 for a dot expect more for an EDOT. If you want to pry it from someone who might not be looking to sell I'd say be willing to throw 3-500 on top of that. Save up and keep an eye out as I've seen these sell for considerably less on CL when they pop up.

It really depends on how nice. Yes, its very hard to find now. I would guess probably 5x harder to find than tron.

My guess:
$1k-$2k for DOT
$2k-$4k for EDOT

Probably a bit more for a fully restored one.

hey, we discussed this before, open that big fat wallet of yours. remember what i told you i went thru to get my ur dot? seller was a pita. but it was a home use clean machine with speech mod so i had to have it. paid more and shipping alone was 500.00. but i am happy and its one of the best playing imho and eye candy you can get especially parked next to a tron.
best luck finding one. it took me a year to find mine and when i did, i had to pay!!
edit- btw i believe i paid 1800.00

Very hard to find game, plus very desirable. I've seen blown out DOT's sell for $1500. It also took me over a year to find my upright DOT and about 2 years to land my EDOT.

So to answer your question, yes, it is HTF one.

Ugh...I thought that would be the rough agreement...:/ having ADHD in this hobby sucks...will be practicing my patience for this purchase I guess!

My DOT purchase was from CL. It was a game I was not even looking for but one popped up cheap and working so I bought it. The seller was a nice honest guy who told me that I was the first to call him so the game was mine. I paid his asking price, $400.

Sounds like how I found mine, but mine was $250 with a dead monitor.

Save up and give it time. I wanted one for a long time, but was not real serious until a couple years ago. I was offered two EDOTs before I settled on the one I bought for $2500 + $550 shipping. If you got the room EDOT is the way to go.

They are out there, but it may take awhile to find one and they will be pricey unless you get Craig's List lucky.

I've been collecting since '99. Never came across one for sale. I saw one in a warehouse once, but it wasn't for sale. Definitely a case where you open the wallet, let everyone know you are looking for it and willing to pay for it. Probably not getting a KLOV'r deal here.

I'm waiting for Bungy to chime in on this. He'd found one, but it needed work. Don't know what he paid for it. But I do remember him getting a little squirrelly trying to get the speech board working- I think it finally all worked out though. He apparently got married and no further transmissions have come out of the area... (kidding)
