I sold a customer a new cocktail with 60-1 in ,he did not like fast MsPacman ,he think it run too slow and hard to turn corner.... ,so I asked him bring the game back ,I will refund his money .
He had 50,000 point on the Ms Pacman ,told me he was a lot better ,something wrong with the game .
I asked him to play my original MsPacman mini with fast chip,he said the same ,it is too slow ,too hard to turn corner .....
He told me MsPacman should run twice as fast as the fast MsPacman I have ,60-1 and original with fast chip .
I have been email back and forward with this guy for over 1 year ,he finally bought a game ,I told him I give him 100% refund ,he got to play the game a week for free,I do not think he can find the game he want .
I was wonder ,it is just this customer or the some fast chip in MsPacman are faster than other?
How fast do MsPacman should run to be fast enough ?

The speedup chip version should be how fast it is. "Too slow" should have no bearing on turning corners, as a problem turning corners would normally be attributed to too fast - or a faulty joystick. Did you have an 8-way in there by chance? Or perhaps he wasn't used to leafs?

You should have switched the difficulty to "Hard" and let him try it that way...

The Ms Pacman mini is my game ,it is all original but the speed chip,it has Midway leaf joystick. He said it does not feel right ,MsPac is too slow.
I think he remember ,he was good at the game 30 years ago ,he has over 50,000 point on the 60-1 ,it has Happ micro joystick .

there are some cabs that had a turbo button that sped up ms pac and the ghosts, i remember that...

also 50,000 on fast ms pac isnt that good of a score.

2bits had a version that ran a little faster than the normal fast chip, but not THAT much faster. You could normally tell because the cut scenes had one character run too fast and overshoot what it was chasing.

BUT - tell him that slower = easier = higher scores. Then post a 100K plus game and tell him he sucks...

There is a speed up Ms. Pac in the mall arcade here that has an 8 way stick. Its hard as hell to play. The best I can do on it is about 180K on a really good day. My all time best with a normal 4 way Pac stick is 304K. If the multi you are talking about has an 8 way, it could make the difference.

Multi has 4 way micro joystick ,original MsPacman fast has original leaf 4 way joystick,he played both ,told me should be twice as fast .

I am not a very good MsPacman player ,40-50,000 is good score for me .

Regular speed Ms Pac (and Pac and Jr Pac), you run just a tiny bit faster than the ghosts except when you're eating dots. The turbo versions, you run as fast as their eyes going back to the ghost pen (after eating a blue one). That's the 2 common versions, and are what's included on the 60-in-1.

there are different versions of the "speed up" chip... my Ms. Pac plays much faster than the ones i played at Cyberdogs and some mexican restaurant in the last few months, though those were both faster than original.

edited to add:

i just played the "original" and "fast" versions on my 60-in-1 as well as my fast Ms. Pac and mine is at least twice as fast as the "fast" on the 60-in-1, which is noticeably faster than the "original."

Dude is nuts. I have Ms. Pac on my original board 96-in-1, on my Arcadeshop board and on a 60-in-1... and MAME... They all play very similar to each other. NONE go faster than the other. This guy has buyers remorse.

Refund his money..get the game back and tell him to go pound sand..he has a bad memory of what the game is supposed to do.

hello? is this thing on? one two, check, one, two.

multiple versions of speed up.

just played:

60-in-1 "original"
60-in-1 "fast"
my "fast" Ms. Pac.

60-in-1 "original" < 60-in-1 "fast" < my "fast" Ms. Pac by about 2x.

he's not crazy and it's too bad he didn't get what he wanted. i think it's great that Wu has awesome customer service and that he would offer a refund in this case.

and NO, i will not sell him my super-fast Ms. Pac board, and no, it came pre-sped so i don't know the origin of the chip or if there have been other modifications done.

Now, I don't have a 60-in-1 here any more... but my Arcadeshop version of "FAST" is the same speed as my 96-in-1 version of "FAST"... and if my memory serves me right the 60-in-1 was about the same speed... so I am not sure what version of "FAST" you have in your original cab... my 96-in-1 has the "original" speed and "fast" speed...

my original Ms. Pac board has the "fast" chip the customer was remembering and wants.

it wouldn't surprise me if it has to do with the "official enhancement" (fast) chips that Midway released vs. bootleg chips, and/or it may also have to do with making alterations to the boardset itself... maybe the super-fast versions like mine do some overclocking or another trick.

personally, i like the super-fast version the best but of course that's the one that, if you have good reflexes, you can easily get the highest score on. i push 120-150k on my machine easily while 75k on a "fast" takes work for me and if i can break 25k on an "original" i'm doing pretty well.

edited to add:

if i get a chance tomorrow maybe i'll take some video so i can demonstrate the difference.

I told the guy ,I can refund his money or build a brand new MsPacman with original joystick and original Ms Pacman fast board .

The board and joystick will be original and rebuilt ,other parts ,artwork are new !

I can still get NOS Happ or WG new tube monitor i box ,so I offer to build him a new MsPacman cocktail instead of 60-1 .

He told me ,after you build a New MsPacman with original board ,if I still do not like ,can I still get my money back ?

I told him ,just bring game back ,I will refund the money ,I am not going to build a MsPacman for him,and he did bring the cocktail back,he said he is still looking for MsPacman now ,I do not think anyone can sell a game to make him happy.
He feel MsPacman fast should be twice as fast and turn on the dime ..
