How far would you travel to chase a grail?

Flew from CA to GA to pick up a cockpit Firefox, then drove back in a rented truck. I'd travel even further to secure a "Bouncer"...no limits on that game.

I'd travel to Antartica on a pogo stick if there was proof I could get a Bouncer there.

Speaking of Bouncer, have any more clues turned up to give us hope at least one survives?

Drove to Kansas City from Omaha for a Galaga upright. I was going there for a family event so it was like killing two birds for one stone. I also had a buddy pick up a cab from a fellow clover in St. Louis.

4 miles, a 10 minute drive down the road :)

It took my buddy with the truck, longer to get to my house, than it did to go get the game. Actually, took longer to get the game out of the house than it did for the combined travel time for the game, lol. I'm sure he'll pipe up if he see's this.

I enjoy road trips, so I don't really know how far I'd go for another grail. I've traveled 4 hours each way, for lesser games.

Back in 1997 I drove 900 miles round trip to pick up a Dragon's Lair. I did that in one day. 17 hours of driving.

I would seriously consider making a 2-3 day trip to the to pick up that 'grail' once I figure that out - actually just considering it to make a general run.

You guys down in the US are making me jealous with some of the deals you find/have - people around me seem to think their games are worth a fortune. %)

Maybe, I need to hook up with Lindsey when he does a warehouse raid or something...but then I am still 'new' to this hobby and kind of late to the gate...

Just got back this morning (4:00AM) from my quest that started Friday morning (6:00AM).

We (my son and I) drove from Staten Island New York to Halifax Canada 18 hours to get there, 4.5 hours sleep, then another 21 hours (including loading the truck) back to NY - over 2000 miles.

I am now the proud owner of my Sinistar Duramold Ser#624403! It needs work, namely the bezel and CPO but who cares - it a SINISTAR DURAMOLD!!!

Also in the truck, an "almost" HUO Liberator, nice Star Hawk, a few NOS (COLOR) vector CRTs, vector monitor chassis boards, game PCBs, IC's........ It was worth the trip.

So that's approx. 39 hours in the truck / a little over 2000 miles.

you should have gone "stock craigslist" on the guy and told him some guy just offered $20 more than him and you just sold it. :)

then before you were killed, tell him the truth.

I avoided going from Denver to Oklahoma City in order to get a Gauntlet II. Since we're so far from other big cities, it doesn't take much before the costs of driving starts to rival shipping. I hate driving long distances so that's also a factor.

Man, you guys going 500, 1,000 miles... my hat is off to you. I went from Denver to Colorado Springs for my Tempest. I guess that's the farthest I've ever gone.

Unfortunately, I am in northern Minnesota, so alot of games I have picked up our down in the cities, which is about a 480 mile round trip. I just picked up a grail on one of those trips (Star Wars.)

I still haven't ruled out 'unauthorized excavation' to recover additional 'Bouncer' components :)

What was really crazy was on the way out of Halifax, about 30 min. Into the return journey, a blanket of clouds covered the horizon, then my worst fears materialized - RAIN!

I pulled over and removed the contents from the pickup and my 7 year old son and myself proceeded to wrap the games with the shrinkwrap I brought just for this purpose - under an overpass on the highway.......

I originally planned on doing the wrap before loading the truck but it was so bueatiful in Halifax and I wanted to give customs easy access to the insice of the games, well I should have just stuck to the original plan.....

Thank God we made it home safe. In fact, we made sure we went to Church that Sunday.
