How far would you travel to chase a grail?

I did a 1000 mile round trip to TN for a Space Invaders Deluxe; however, a very good friend of mine lived in the next city over and I actually hung out with him that weekend and picked up the game before I went back. Plus the game was in excellent condition. The second farthest was the 600 mile round trip to MI that I did one day for my Berzerk that someone was practically giving away. Since I pretty much have every game I've ever wanted I don't do more than a 6 hour round trip anymore. But then again that one will show up that I can't resist.

I drove 1500 miles round trip. Worked all day got the call that the other buyer fell through. After work was over drove striaght to Dallas Texas picked it up drove half way back slept for a couple hours in a rest stop then drove home. Sadly enough I have been doing this long enough now that I realize that was crazy. At this point only search about 250 miles and only consider most times 200.

I just had a guy travel 1568 miles ONEWAY to buy a Sarge from me tonight. WOW!!! So how far have you traveled for a grail? I still don't know what my grail is yet, but the most miles I have drove, was only 308 miles "round trip". Seems so short compared to the guy I met tonight.

That's how far I drove when I moved from Oregon to Nebraska. I hope to never do that again. I would probably go 200 or 300 for a game, 500 if it was a Super Pac upright.

so burgertime is coming home, huh?

Yessir. It has apparently worn out its welcome in my sister's garage...

I bought it before I collected the 8~9 games I have now. Back when I only had like 2 games. I'm not super excited about picking this one up, unfortunately... But meh, I'll get to visit my sister, and it will be a quick turnaround.

This will be a 16 hour drive, 954 miles... ONE WAY. :(

Let's see......my longest drive......I worked all day, left Louisville KY at 8:00PM Friday night. I was scheduled to be in Nanticoke PA (north-east corner of PA) between 8:00AM-10:00AM Saturday morning. I arrived right at 8:00AM. Loaded up games, chit-chatted, and hit the road. I left Nanticoke and headed to Newark DE. My arrival window at Newark was Saturday at Noon-3:00PM. I arrived at my Newark destination around 1:30PM Saturday. I loaded up my games and took a tour of the (biggest) warehouse I've ever seen. This warehouse probably had 1000+ games in it. The guys who worked there had organized it so everything was together. It's pretty crazy seeing 50+ Ms. Pac-Man machines in a row.....or 18 Star Wars lined up side by side. After spending a bit of time thhere, I hit the road heading home. I arrived home Sunday morning around 4:00AM. At approximately 32-34 hours with no sleep.....I felt like ass. I think my total milage was around 1500-1600 miles. That was in my younger days. Now days......I'd say 25 miles, max:D

It wasn't really a "grail" but I drove 230 miles round trip to pick up my MBWB and it didn't even have a monitor. Thankfully, the board worked when I got home and tested it.

If I were to go back and do it again, I probably wouldn't have. That dude lived in the boonies. Literally, a mountain forest. I'm glad I didn't get cut up and thrown into a ravine somewhere. I didn't know better early on when I was Nintendo crazed.

Though, to answer the question, if I had a free weekend, a buddy to go with, and an okay from my wife, I'd probably only drive as far north as Portland, as far south as San Diego and as far east as Reno or Las Vegas (southeast). Basically, 800-1000 miles round trip.

My longest trip for games was the 23 hour roundtrip to Indy to pick up a trade, 3 RTRs for my MA pin. Had to rent an 18' Penske truck (all they had) to do it, and it ended up costing me around $400.00 in rental fees and gas. :( But was worth it.

And just a couple weeks ago drove 9 hours round trip for a very nice Smash TV, and she fit nicely in my Explorer.

Longest for me is 10 hours - once for a Gun Fight, once for an Astro Fighter. I'd say 10 is the max for me and it would have to be something pretty rare for me to do it again.

I have to call crazy on stuff 8+ hours away unless it is uberrare. You can ship it for way cheaper. I've done 5-6 hours on numerous things, but even I, Robot I had shipped to me...

My longest was 1200+ one way to get a Pirate Treasure. The whole trip which included some side deals was over 3,000 miles. Went from AR to OH to NJ (Near Hew York City), then down to the other part of NJ, then back to OH and then back to AR. Truck was so crammed that we had the tail gate down and a heavy table top crane on it and my Pirate Treasure in the front seat as I rode in the back of my small extended cab while my dad drove. Before we stopped and spent the night in OH (On the way back) we had the Pirate Treasure hanging over the side of the truck but it was strapped really well. Neither my dad nor I liked it that way so we put it up front. All in all I bought 3 games/items, sold one game and traded a game. Crazy trip. Almost lime my WI trip though I got not rails out of that trip though.

Not all sellers will ship. My grail Pirate Treasure was burried in one of his 3 warehouses full of 900+ games. He couldn't even get me pics becuase it was so packed in there and it had been raining. I finally told him here is when I am coming. I called him to let him know I was in town and he goes already? Turns out the game wasn't that packed in the warehouse. Sadly I didn't get to see the other 2 warehouses. My dad was in a hurry since I had other deals going on. But the one I saw had other stuff I wish I had room for.

This may be true in some cases, but I do not see how I could of had a shipping company take my pin to Indy, and bring back 3 Rush The Rocks to me for $400.00.

I may be about to do a 600 mile round trip to pick up an Exidy Victory, but I don't feel so bad about it now after reading these stories :D
I just hope my car will be up to it, making some interesting noises lately and I've got to fix those before I even consider doing it.
